This happend with Dell's drivers too with mine.
After having Alienware support remote access my M11xR2, i5 ..
The tech. un-installed the Nvidia, then Intel..
Re-booted and installed Intel, THEN Nvidia.
In that order.
I did this so I didn't think it would work. BUT he did check the power mode I was in and put it on " performance ". Then we tried 3DMark 06.
It went past first part.. proxycon ( spelling ) .. then went and finished the ' fire flies ' scene.. That's where MY test stoped.. But, it then went onto the next stage.
So,it worked.
Uninstall Nvidia
Uninstall Intel
Install Intel
Install Nvidia
Test..
Don't work?.. change power setting stage to ' proformance '.
Try again. Good luck!

Tested Portal it's fine

Thanks kopicha. I'll to do a full reinstall now.

im finding more lock ups with these drivers with same settings i used on 258. Bit buggy if you ask me im going back to 258.96 never had a problem with them.
-
this is my initial findings. seems like after I reinstall my whole system then go into 260.89. it seems to work better. my sense of better does not mean that it was giving me issues previously. But example the drivers tends to auto detect apps that need GPU acceleration better (the way Optimus should work) without the need to mess around too much with the whitelist. Havent encounter any crash or sort "yet". Will continue to see how it goes over the weekend. Reason why I am doing this is because of the change of new installer which is kind iffy as compared to the ones in the past. so just want to see if it would work better for a machine that install with clean state rather than on machines that has gone thru many different drivers installations including modded ones or official ones.

Nothing broke for me, but Civilization 5 still does NOT work with DirectX 10+ graphics, only DX9.
-
Ok guys yesterday i was trying to play call of duty 4, it would run but it was just a black screen but yet the noise was playing in the background like it was suppose to.
I then tried running it with integrated graphics and it worked fine,
but i was only getting 30fps on integrated which is normal.
I tried to run it then on Nvidia and it still didnt work =/
I have the 260.89 drivers and i think they are the problem ='(
Anyone else getting this problem? -
I played Civ5 a few hours last night on my desktop in DX10 mode. Not sure I could see any standout differences. What should I be looking for?
-
You should be looking for an upgrade in FPS, or maybe nicer graphics with no change in FPS
-
ahh dam, after a hectic week of lot of work and exams, I finally got around to test the drivers with civilization V,
I'm a bit disappointed that DX10 didn't work, because it was working already with the 258 drives.
slickie88, can you try to run the game in the M11x in Dx10 mode? did not had time to really test it or to try to modify the settings for the game. but for me when you launch the game in Dx10 it crashes right away.
hikarate: I think that last week there was some update for the Civ V because I was able to play in Dx10 mode for all the weekend.
I think that is possible that the update messed things up because I told it to overwrite the settings to default. I will have to play with the settings again. -
Every time I had attempted to run Civ5 in 10/11 mode on my R2 with the 258.96 driver it would crash immediately. I don't think I tried it again after the recent updates though.
-
i think i found the first bug on this driver. some games doesnt like 4x AA with this driver. as soon as you use 4x AA you get black screen but the game is actually still running as sound can still be heard.
-
Works for me, on both the integrated and the nVidia GPU
EDIT: this post got moved from another thread. -
I'm having trouble uninstalling/reinstalling 260.89. When I try to uninstall, it just tells me that the Uninstallation failed. When I go to do a clean reinstallation, it tells me installation failed
I'm trying to reinstall because no matter what I do, I can't get the OC'ed GPU speeds to stick. It'll stick immediately after I hit apply, but will revert back to stock settings after I launch a game. -
Installed last night. Playing lotro on ultra again with 50-70 fps compared to 13-30 in moria. Great improvement loving it
-
Then i just set all things to default (by looking at another PC loaded with Modern Warfare 2 and blindly go to Optimal setting).
What i found out was that, if i switch the resolution to 1360x768, the game is playable again. If switch to 1366x768, black screen.
Dunno it helps or not -
I have been running the driver for a couple days and have noticed some slowdown in BC2. after about 20 min the frame rate drops for a minute then speeds up again. it then repeats this about every five minutes.
-
I thought that is caused by powrermizer/ throttling but i think it doesn't.
I think I'm going to revert the driver back to 18x.xx and check whether it is driver problem...... -
-
On my GT 240M (always connected to an external LCD with VGA port) this new release continue to force the clone setting in a totally random way...
anyone has experienced this?
-
-
tweak others won't help. Once change to 1360x768, everything back to normal and can up till 4x AA.
-
Can anyone confirm that Just Cause 2 is working with this driver?
-
Dragon Nest is not working with this driver , in fact, any drivers !!
I saw thousands of thread around the world, china, korea, usa, but no action taken by Dell !! -
These were exactly my settings in Portal, hl2 ep1 and ep2. Black screen and the game sound in the background. Luckily i didn't have time to do a complete reinstall. Thanks for this kopicha. -

I have these drivers installed, but once I heard the 265 driver update is going to be fixing the PB issue, I haven't even bothered with this set and am getting my game on through consoles or my other machines until they release that driver.
My M11x sits on my bedroom desk all hooked up to my bedroom plasma. It sits there, looking all Pimp and Fly with it's sleek lines and killer form factor, and it just calls to me begging to be played. But I just can't, because I'm mostly playing BF and even though there's a workaround, the whole thing just makes the M11x feel gimped.
When 265 comes out next month, if it really fixes the problem, then finally the machine will feel like a ready to go, no hassle most powerful 11" gaming netbook it's designed and marketed to be.
265 cannot come fast enough!!
When it arrives...
(Goes into Darth Vader voice)
Then, the world will know the true POWER of the M11x...
(Seriously, why even bother with these knowing those are less then a few weeks away? Plenty of other drivers that work better until then) -
dont for get 260 got delay pretty much a long way before it came out too. Nvidia tend to over promise remember that. So it might not be as "short wait" as you may imagine. They can simply say something like oh they found a critical bug and needs fix and there goes the release date.
-
I am having the same issue with The Witcher. sound and mouse icon but black screen. someone mentioned this happened for CoD and they changed the resolution. Can someone help ?
-
