it is just bad quality, like running in 16bit color mode with vertical white lines. the intro and menu is perfect quality, but once you hit that play movie/scene/episode button, it overlaps the menu screen. so the movie is playing and I can see the menu in the background.

Don't know if I should post it here, but it seems overclocking the GPU using this driver will cause SC2 to lockup. However, I can run 3dmark06 and get benches of 8476. (540,1296,940).

    Anyone have this issue??

thats a big overclock...try backing off to say 510-520/link/890-900 as looking around the benchmarks over the last few months most peoples seem stable at around these figures.

Another guy has started a thread saying the same thing with new 260 and SC2 but again his overclock is fairly high 550/link/900 ish

On my R2 (before returning it to Dell) I had OC'ed my gpu a fair bit with no problems in SC2, how ever if you push it too far, sc2 WILL lockup.

also, it's possible that unlinking the core / shader will help since the core usually seems to be able to go higher than the shader. At least in my experience. How ever every gpu oc's different so go by small steps as sagman mentioned and try step by step to see if its stable.

That PB news on the 265 drivers made my day. When it comes out, it's almost going to feel like getting the laptop for the first time.

I played all my games lastnight including LFD2,Crysis Warhead, SC2,Batman AA, CODWAW, Borderlands, & Dragon Age with good results I was able to OC pretty well on crysis w/o crashing which i couldnt do before.I will have to play more during the week to really get a feel. 3dmark06 somehow fixed itself perhaps after a reboot but anyways im able to get over 8100 but i will have to tinker to get it back to my best score.
I uninstalled the old driver, deleted the folders out, booted in safe mode, used driver sweeper then installed. Other than the initial issue with 3dmark06 these drivers seem pretty solid so far.

ok....... seems like you're the only one that experienced lower fps results in ffxiv.
Upgraded the other day and I got a small fps boost.

I only saw one mention, but will this driver work for the MX11 R1 ?

I assume it does since we use the same graphics card, but I guess I will lose the option of been able to switch from the internal card to the GT 335M.

    Am I correct ?

It should work, once you do that fn+f6 or how it is to turn on GT 335m for R1

Yeah I installed it and it works for the MX11 R1. Playing some games you can tell there is a lot of improvement with FPS and better graphics.

Only downside you have to use the GPU full time, since your not able to switch from the internal graphics card to the GPU. And you have to disable it in BIOS in order to see it work.

Ok, I found out as soon as you play with the shader clock you will risk having SC2 crashing. The higher you move the shader clock from 1080 the sooner you, will experience a crash. I can play sc2 on 540 core clock and thats max without increasing the shader clock (unlinked). As soon as I hit 1090 shader, it crashed like 30mins after.

I was about to say that too. In fact with TS and having CPU OCed to 166. GPU with stock clock along with the recent 260.89 driver I posted. I am averaging 30fps most of the time except in extreme populated areas specifically like town and quest stones where it can drop down to about 16-22fps. In most of other area I am running min 30fps and up to as high as 40ish. This is with the game running on Standard texture, Standard shadow, 0 AA and low texture filter. both AO and DOF are off on native res 1366x768.

For in game option only thing I off was extended viewing range and profanity filter. Could squeeze out another 1-3fps more if I disable shadow, physics and dust effect.

zero crash for me. I upgraded from the previous 260.89 modded desktop driver that I posted before this one. to validate the driver further I also did a clean install with the build in installer using the custom option. so far both way they run same and fine no errors of any sort.

look at the top menu in your nvidia cp. cant remember the exact name but the option beside 3d settings you should find 3 options inside. which one of them is to display the nvidia icon on taskbar

I also did a clean install driver for this time, but from the screenshot i did there, it all happens after i played a game using Nvidia GPU. Right now i uninstall and re-install back the driver, will gonna try again later.
*Desktop power supply died at this time, zzz..*

I think there isn't any option for the Nvidia CP tray icon there anymore :(
Only GPU Indication icon will show under there...

argh ... why is this happening? even after reinstall, i still get the same problem :(

What i did was to uninstall the driver, then restart my laptop, after that i install using clean install provided from the application without installing 3D vision this time. But the error occurred once i start a game like SC2...

Below is the error once again:

Sigh ... kinda annoying of having report each time i play a game =.=ll Though it doesn't effect anything... It also appear under task manager there where it eat around 6 ~ 7mb of memory ....

Just tried Red Alert 3 Uprising and it's so laggy even i put into the whitelist ... before that it was so smooth with 257.30 from Dell site...

Guess i will just revert back again and wait till 265 release :(

Take a look at the crash report ... argh

Sorry to ask may I know which drivers you are using previously? You must be using something that is really old. The GPU Activity icon is the Nvidia CP icon for Optimus laptops. It has been like this since 258.96. On a non Optimus machine then it will be shown as the Nvidia Icon since they dont need a GPU activity reporter like Optimus does.

    Previously using 257.30

Now the latest one 260.89 is giving me headache of the NvXDSync.exe crashing...
And i whitelist red alert 3 uprising using Nvidia graphic card, the whole game was still laggy ...
Left 4 Dead 2 cannot choose AA which the only option = None.
    Downloading old driver

not sure whats your problem. 257.30 sucks imo... the best driver previously was 258.96 that was modded by me. 260.89 that just release has some improvements over 258.96 overall. and the best drivers for PB support has always been 189.79 but does not work well with current newer release games already. But PB issue is promised to be fix by Nvidia in 265 release. So just have to wait for now. Also 260.89 is the first Verde driver release by Nvidia with official support for M11xR2 and its WHQL'ed.

I dont see issue with the drivers not only myself in fact for most out there. Its something else on your system instead for sure. You may want to use Driver Sweep to do a clean up on your system then perform a clean install

the issue is on your own computer and not with 260.89. do as i said use driver sweeper and do a clean up. after the clean up dont install the driver yet. go to your program files folder and look for Nvidia folder. there should be some folder name Updatus or something. Delete that as well. Then perform installation with 260.89. your old 257.30 is the culprit to your problem

So uninstall my driver now then restart my laptop and go into safe mode and use the driver sweeper, right?

After that delete the remaining updatus file and restart back to normal mode and perform installation? Is it?

Where can i find driver sweeper, thanks.

As much as I want to help. There is only that much I can do. Since everyone has diff software installed and other misc stuffs which can be the causing factor. I do not have your machine in felt of me so I can only vision it as general as it is. But as far as everything has been done it does more or less conclude it's something on your machine. I dont think even the next release is going to do much for you until you sort out your own system issue. I would suggest you to restore your system back to factory default then instal the driver and test. That is probably the best way I cam suggest to bring your system back to good shape. Before going into this. You may also want to try the previous 258.96 driver to see if you have similar problem

Yea, now using 258.96 and everything back to normal except Red Alert 3 Uprising which still using Integrated Graphic even i white listed the application already...
I think the main problem is the "NvXDSync.exe" which is still buggy at the moment.

Btw, is there any guide on how to re-format M11x ? Is there any recovery partition included when we first got m11x r2 ? I only have done once alienware respawn recovery disk and the windows 7 recovery disk came along. Prefer recovery partition though...

the recovery partition is access from safe mode (F8) i suppose? The only dell backup utility i have is the AlienRespawn which can only create recovery disk.
Btw, i dun see the recovery drive partition showing in My Computer like other Dell laptop.

So far 258.96 driver is working good for me.
Maybe will reformat after finishing my test ... wasted whole afternoon doing this, sigh ...

Hi! The 260.89 in my case is very buggy. I did a clean install (uninstall the 258.96, reboot, run driver sweeper and delete all nvidia folders). Half-Life 2 Episodes (1 & 2) and Portal show a black screen at startup and stay locked there. This not happen with the 258.96. For restore my partition i use Acronis True Image Home, then is easy to back to working system with 258.96 drivers. PS: i reformated my hd in two partitions: 60gb for the system and the rest for data (games, music etc).

260.89 is buggy indeed. Installed with custom setting for clean install but nvidia control panel was gone. Wasn't there when I right clicked desktop either. Seems like the driver was uninstalled. Reinstalled second time using custom option and same thing. When I right-clicked, the computer would lag and when menu opened up, no nvidia panel. So installed third time this time with express settings and it finally worked.

Am I the only one who thinks this driver isn't buggy? I do not seem to have this problem or games having black screens or the no nvidia control panel. I have no problems with this driver, works fine for me

I’m getting hard lockups in games with these so I might be going back to one of the 258 drivers. It does it with and without a GPU OC (I need to try without a any CPU OC tonight). These lockups suck because you can’t end the task and you can’t shutdown, you have to hold the power button to force a shutdown.

This is the reason why I don’t change drivers when I find a good working set. My desktop hasn’t been updated in over a year and I refuse to as long as all my games work great and I don’t have any problems. I’m tempted to go back and start with 189 drivers so I could play punkbuster multiplayer as well. At this point I do not care about performance, I want my games to play without lockups!

So far I'm not having any issues with any of my games. Metro2033, L4D2 and Civ5. Performance is at least as good as I had with the modded 258.96. I haven't fired up FO NV yet.

I played Cysis Warhead lastnight for a bit & it seemed to work for a while as i played then it locked up. After that every time i try to reload the game the graphics were messed up w/ & w/o GPU OC. Has anyone else had issues with cysis?
I played SC2 w/o issues so far after playing 2 matches for a little over a hour. Gonna play dragon age tonight & see how it goes.

I’ve experienced the hard lockups during WoW (read about others with the same issue), Sacred 2(DVD version), and Burnout Paradise (Steam version). Unfortunately I don’t play 50+ games, I enjoy my favorite 5 or so, and 3 of them are giving me problems  I need to try BFBC2 tonight to see if it does it too.

While it could be overheating, I doubt it. It can happen after only a minute or two, or after an hour or two. My temps look very good (mid 60s to low 70s). It seems to happen with and without overclock (need to do a bit more testing with both GPU and CPU OC off to make sure).

Hi kopicha, please run (if you can) Half-Life 2 Episode 1 or 2 or Portal. Left 4 Dead 2 and Half-Life 2 (not episodes) are working fine. No overclock im my m11 and no heat too. My games are all in steam (except sc2). Other games with no problem: SC2, Dawn of War 2, Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, Dirt2.
And thanks for your mods!! Saved my fun!!

Test Portal, please! If it works in your system i'll recheck the mine and maybe to do a clean full format. Thanks again! PS: l4d2 works fine with 260.89. Portal stay in a black screen at startup and locks there.
