Dell has a new Orion backpack out for the M14x, ALIENWARE Alienware Orion M14x Backpack - TSA Friendly : Game Consoles & Video Games | Dell mine old backpack finally wore out this week. Originally I wanted to get the Orion backpack when it was for the M17x now I dunno. Both are exactly the same price, just wish I knew if I am gonna need that extra space or with a smaller backpack maybe a lighter load. My old one would get to about 25-30lbs with M11x and text books.

This is what I use. I originally bought it when I had a 17" laptop, but the m11x fits great in it sideways.

I'm curious if there are any other well fitting sleeves for the M11x BESIDES the official MobileEdge/Orion sleeve. Despite having an M11x, I don't really like the whole Alienware logo, and would prefer a sleeve without that logo as well. However I'm having trouble finding one that fits. Has anyone had success?

Also, apologies if someone already has mentioned one that would work. I looked through about 15 pages, then decided directly asking might be faster.

    Thanks

Well after a little more reading through the thread, I've stumbled upon ZEROSHOCK III 12" LAPTOP SLEEVE. Based on the dimensions listed at the bottom, it should be a perfect fit for the M11x. Does anyone have experience using this on their M11x

I ended up going with this because it's small and when i don't want to carry my books i have a slim case and it should carry my laptop and accessories, and since i had a bunch of amazon coupons stacked up it cost me $10, i was thinking about the orion backpack but it was out of my price range but thanks for the help, ill post a quick review of the small stm alley bag once it comes in.

Though the eSling is nice and small to perfectly compliment the notebook's size, I fit a second M11x in the accessory area and still had room for a Razer Orochi, power supplies, Apple dock cable, etc. :D

I'm impressed. I only wish it had a padded shoulder strap.

People here do seem to love some rather big bags for such a small notebook, yes, not criticizing, I know some people need to carry books, or a whole lot of stuff, people have different needs.

But I traded a 13" Vostro for this, because I wanted a lot more mobility, meaning, smaller size, weight(not much of a trade, but also no an issue) and in a smaller bag, here is what I use, I recently bough a second bag to carry more stuff when I need, like trips.

On the day to day, I use this very small Messenger Bag, it can fit a lot of stuff, but after day to day usage, I decided to put nearly everything else on the other bag, I use it mostly for just the M11x, power ac, and mouse on the front pocket, sometimes not even the power ac, because it keeps a very slim, barely noticed profile, waterproof and very light. ( My other Post, with all the other stuff I used to carry in it)

Oakley Computer Bag 2.0 is what I use for trips, or when I need to carry way more stuff, this bag can take a cannon ball and a Machete attack and your notebook would still be fine, but that translate into a somewhat heavy bag, which is always an issue when dealing with Messenger Bags.
I was hooked in this bag, because of it's design and everything it had to offer, but on everyday use, I use mostly the one above, but both of them are always on the trunk of my car.

As you can see, I really like Messenger Bags, not so much backpacks.

Goethe: I really like that second one, it's like a fancier version of my bag.

    I use the Targus OCU2.
Amazon.com: Targus OCU2 CUN1/OCU2 - Universal Notebook Case [Koskin]: Electronics

This picture really doesn't do it justice.
It's a faux-leather material with 3 zipper compartments going the full length of the case, and a couple more on the outside...
A slightly smaller easily accessible velcro compartment on one side (which I use for things like flight itinerary)
The laptop storage compartment is spacious and has a velcro strap.
The compartment right next to that is for paper notebooks, and has 2 sides spaced by a divider. Very roomy for its compact size.

Targus Black Laptop Case, model OCU2
(Not my listing, just has good pictures)

The opposite large end compartment has this velcro divider thing... dunno how to describe it, but you could remove it and put another laptop in there.
I use it for storing cables, my external hdd, and my mouse. And there are these really nice sleeves for cd cases/thumbdrives/other miscellaneous items.

Got this bag as a gift a while back... I take it everywhere I take a netbook now.

Hi please have someone try or use the Alienware M14X Orion Messenger Bag for carry our small M11X, I like this bag but I don't want a too big bag...

I have the M11x Orion portfolio for when I want the small and hard for carry it but I need one little more big than that for when I travel, something to carry the m11X with the adapter the Orochi, my External GoFlex Go HD, a External Blueray burner slim, some DVD and some magazines... I know they are to much things and I say not to big but yes I need the smaller that carry all this because if you travel in Iberia or American Airlines from Canary island to Miami via Madrid, with a 1 year old baby you need to optimize all the weight and size of your aboard bags first because one of this days airlines will charge for travel with shoes, and the other hand if for the space we have to put this bag in the new airplane (off course this not happen in business but to much $$$ for me ...) So I am a little scary about it size ...

If someone have it for travel with the m11x and can get some pictures with the m11X inside, outside so I can compare the size of the bag open with the pc inside, and the bag close with the pc over it, and a side view of both to compare the Width / depth / height of the bag with the m11x... That will be very nice and a +rep off course :)

I got a Belkin 10-12" Messenger bag from Amazon Amazon.com: Belkin 10-Inch - 12-Inch Notebook Messenger Bag (Jet/Cabernet): Electronics and the M11x fits PERFECTLY. I read the revies first and there was someone who also had an M11x who left a review so i knew it would fit.

Cost me $20 and works great, and the strap is very heavy-duty and sewn onto the bag so it's not going to break anytime soon. My only issue is that the strap is sewn onto the BACK of the messenger bag, not the sides, so it really needs to be slung around your neck not just sitting on your shoulder else it sits lop-sided.

Very well padded for the laptop compartment, and it seems to be covered in velour so it's not going to scratch or anything. It does feel slightly cheap, especially the zippers, but everything else is very sturdy.

I use the Timbuktu Outtawhack backpack/messenger bag. It fits the M11x great with the power supply next to it in the laptop compartment. I also like the corduroy lining in the laptop compartment!

I've been using an STM Scout Small ( STM Scout Small) to carry around my M11x R3.

It is the perfect size for the M11x, a slim power brick, a Razer Orochi, and a portable drive. I can even fit my iPad in it as well if needed.

The bag itself is a very small shoulder style bag that is perfect for commuting. It has a really nice lining in the laptop compartment and holds the computer in snug without any worries about scratching the soft touch lid. The laptop compartment has a nice velcro cover that completely encloses the laptop to keep of the elements. It also has two stuff pockets, a zippered pocket and an open slot pocket (that fits the iPad perfectly) in the front. An additional slot pocket is on the back for quick access for a book or papers.

For a bag as small as it is, it has a really wide strap and one of the largest shoulder pads I've ever seen in a bag. It is really comfortable on the shoulder.

This is easily one of the nicest bags I've ever bought. I've been trying to find something similar for my M17x that is on order. I did order a STM Convertible (converts from shoulder bag to backpack); but, I'm not convinced the M17x will fit in it.

Mate, how well does the M11x fit? Would it fit in the STM "scout extra small" bag for 11" laptops?

It fits nicely in the Scout small. There is a tiny bit of room (around a finger width) on either side of the laptop and almost not room at the top.

The extra small would be too small. The M11x is quite a bit larger than most 11" netbooks. I'm guessing the extra small is made for something like the 11" Macbook Air.

I'll try to take some picture tomorrow or Wednesday of the M11x in the Scout small.

I've been looking for a bag just like the STM Scout, how does the material feel? Is it a bit flimsy or does it feel durably and solid? How easily does the zipper glide? Do the plastic clips and bits feel cheap or are they made of decent plastic?

I bought that Belkin bag i linked just a few posts up, and it's not what i had envisioned. I only paid $20 so I'm not too strung up about getting a proper one and maybe passing the Belkin onto someone else.

Also, the MEDIUM Scout is cheaper in some places, would that be too big for the M11x? I don't want it moving around and i don't want a bag that's going to be too big. I want a smaller profile.

I use the Alienware Orion M11x Neoprene Sleeve, it's accommodated my old R1 and my new R3 magically, I've found nothing else that fits as snug.

For carrying around I stick it in the neoprene sleeve and then into a Dunlop shoulder bag. :D

    Hey everyone,

I'm currently carrying my M11x in the Neoprene Sleeve, which I put in my big backpack. I keep taking less books with me, and usually I only take the M11x and some food and drink with me to school. So I want to buy a smaller bag, and I found the orion portfolio case. This can fit my laptop and a notepad, could it also fit some lunch, calculator etc. Or is it too small to carry all that stuff? (The dimensions seem small, but maybe I can squeeze everything in..) Do you guys know a simmilar bag, but a bit bigger? Thanks

I have the Manhattan Portage small DJ bag. You can put your computer, a notebook and your lunch in there perfect. In the pictures I show how much junk I put into mine. I actually have space in there for both my m11x computers.

It is a perfect fit but no longer made. You would need to get it on ebay

The beauty of M11x for me is, once you put it in the provided sleeve, you can pretty much carry it in any bag/backpack/business luggage you happen to have/carry anyway. It would be somewhat counter-intuitive (for me) to purchase a dedicated carrying case for the M11x, as it would negate one of its advantages.

    Hi everyone,

I've been looking at new backpacks for school that can hold my M11x easily as well and was wondering if anyone has any experiences with the Orion (14 or 17-inch) and the M11x. As far as its use as a backpack, I've heard almost nothing but praise. A few comments seemed to suggest that it (the 17-inch, in this case) was too big for the M11x. Can anyone shed some more light on this?

well i'd imagine 17" one would be a lot too large for m11x, it is 6" of slack after all... 14" seem like it would be loose a bit, but still not move too much...

I had my asus sleeve for my 10" laptop, and it would sit nicely in there, but it fits 12" laptop as well...

That's actually what I'm doing at the moment. My backpack's getting a little worn out, though, and if I can eliminate the sleeve (one less thing to fuss with), all the better.

    Q Backpack 2011 - Timbuk2 Bags

The Q. This is the backpack that I use. It's basically everything I wanted because it's relatively small and slim but can hold what I needed. They also have a larger one called the HAL if that's what you're into.

I'm kind of a sucker for the Alienware branding and the minimalistic front. Thanks for the link though, I'll definitely check it out. My main question is just whether or not the M11x is practical to use with the Orions.

    I have one of these:

It fits the M11x very well. It can be hard to get the laptop in sometimes as the fit is so snug, but after you've broken it in, it's a very easy way to carry your M11x around.

It's also got pads to help cushion against falls, and a zippered pocket that fits my Iomega external DVD-ROM drive just fine.

I ordered this protective sleeve from DealExtreme and it fits perfectly, providing a great amount of padding and shock protection! The sleeve is made for a 12.1" laptop but it fits our oversized M11x like a dream. It's a bargain as well for only $4.30! Just be aware that postage can take up to a few months. ;)
