If you didn't need the m11x's portability, then yes, you should've gotten a desktop.

I love my m11x, its such a great and comfortable laptop to have around the house. I have only ran SC2 and BC2 on it so far but both games run very impressively. Looking at grabbing Fallout new vegas, Mass Effect 1 and 2, and deadspace 1 and 2 in the near future and all of these games are supposed to run very well on the m11x. Very happy with my purchase!!

got both dead space 2 and mass effect 2 installed and the M11x rapes them both. you can pretty much get 40+fps for both games on stock speeds.

Amazing piece of machinery for its size and battery life. The alien FX add a special touch and even the metal plaque on the bottom lets you know its something special. A built in OC in the bios that actually overclocks decently...I could go on for a while, but the m11x kick some major azz and I am glad with my purchase which is rare. I had an xps 720 and the motherboard crash shortly after warranty, i had an xps 1340 and the hard drive crashed shortly after warranty, so I was a little weary to get another dell product, but currently I am satisfied. I will see what happens after warranty expires.

Such an impressive little machine. I'm currently playing Dragon Age 2 without a hitch, actually plays better than the first game. :D

I love my M11xR1, with a wwan modem installed, it's an impressive piece of machinery.

Fortunately never had the hinge problem, and with my new razer orochi the family is complete! hehehe...

Yep, I'm really happy with my m11x r2. I was a little bummed initially; my first arrived with a bunch of debris under the screen, but they sent out a new one and it's great. Got the Razer Orochi w/ Kabuto pad too, and it's a nice portable system.

I was concerned about the screen size/glare problems reported by many, but I don't have an issue at all. My primary laptop was an old XPS m1210 for 5 years, and the screen size is comparable.

I love my R1 too. The battery life is terrific as I tote it around a lot. I convinced my boss at work to buy a refurbished Aurora desktop. Now I'll have to start bringing the laptop to work to compete hehe :3

What FPS do you get? Without GPU OC, my M11X R1 gets huge hitches on DX9 High. You done some extra tweaking?

well since we finished the Vmod for the R1 im running at 605/911/1470
and its running very well, but my cpu is also pin modded and at 1.73ghz.
i run the game at 1024x768 (how i run all my games) and all setting on high but AA and shadows. and i was getting over 40fps.. when i get the 2ghz mod done im assuming even more fps.

    The GT335M unfortunately doesn't support DX11.
