I flashed BIOS A05, reinstall Windows again but still got the GfxUI.exe error.
-
After 2 hours of trying finally giving up.. some memory (sorry it's in german):
-
Windows will try to replace the intel with a WHQL one yet outdated....well that was my machine did anyway when i was trying to replicate the problems you guys are having. -
Edit: Not sure what happened here.
-
Edit: I even just pointed the Device Manager to it and forced it to update to the one included in the 260.99 Hybrid directory and it still says 8.15.10.2020. -
Fantastic!! I can play F1 2010 and ARMA2 with decent framerates now
grazie mille -
edit
never mind I redid the steps and it worked - I no longer get the error but the the tray icon is now missing discrete mode. -
is it worth it to upgrade to this from the latest 197 dell drivers?
-
-
Also, if I do what you are saying do I need to uninstall any drivers beforehand, or do I need to be running on discrete or integrated graphics, ect.. -
What a joke we have to go through all this... Dell fails so hard at updating drivers...
-
its definately worth updating from 197's!!!!
-
Ok after rebooting gfxui is not working again. I really couldn't be bothered with all this again so this will do
-
-
Installed it the first time and realized I forgot to uninstall the Intel drivers. It rebooted my PC in mid setup. Went into safemode, uninstalled everything, rebooted. Installed perfectly.
For some odd reason though, it uninstalled my sound drivers. No biggie.
Works great! -
I solved the problem. This was what I did:
1. Format and reinstall Windows 7 64bit.
2. Disable UAC & System Restore.
3. Install Chipset driver. Restart
4. Install OSD Application. Restart
5. Disable Intel Graphics in Device Manager. Restart.
6. Run Download Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider and Enable Test Mode. Restart.
7. Download Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver 15.17.12.64.2226. Run the downloaded .exe file. Click Next 1 time. Wait till extraction finishes.
8. Keep the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator installation open. Go to the C:\Users\< username >\AppData\Local\Temp\ find the folder pft9502~tmp, this folder contains the setup files of the Intel Graphics driver.
9. Copy all the files in Graphics folder (the "lang" folder can be excluded) to C:\Windows\System32\ (overwrite all). You can close the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator installation window now.
10. Run setup.exe from RigelKent's driver package and install the driver. Restart after installation.
11. After restarting, it was in nVIDIA high performance mode, press Fn+F6, it changed to the Intel one and vola no error. The Intel control panel worked fine too. -
post deleted. nvm
-
great job hero1711 , the workaround you discovered will prove useful to others encountering the same problem as you
-
@RigelKent: Thank you very much for making this driver. I hope you do future updates.
-
Hope this work for A04 BIOS, so i can use both THIS driver and the Sierra WWAN card
-
how to uninstall drivers? i've been doing it by rightclicking and hitting uninstall at the device manager but after my comp restarts, the nvidia and intel drivers reinstalls itself.
Or am I already using standard intel drivers? i have 197 72 right now
I dont see the standard graphics adapter you mentioned either -
OK all done - switching seems to work fine, only issue is an error box on switching from high performance to power saver.
windows cannot find GfxUI.exe
Otherwise on first reboot all good, followed all steps and no issues found - will now remove the watermark, used to use readyboot on my M6400 to allow Ik8FANGIU to run for the same driver signing issue, tis a pain.
OK fixed the windows cannot find error, took the fix from Hero1711 and slightly modified it, downloaded the drivers he recommended, then used UniExtract to extract all the drivers from this package, took the graphics folder deleted the lag sub directory and copied this into the sys32 folder. I copied and replaced anything that was allowed to without changing permissions around 10 files were not copied across due to permission errors, hccutils.dll, hkcmd, etc. These files were not needed the Intel control panel now also works.
OK rebooted around 6 times now and switching is still working, have had no end of problems with switching just not working with the dell 197 drivers - would get errors on the 335GPU in device manager mainly insufficient resources normally after around 3 reboots the darn thing would switch again. Pleased to say it seems (OK maybe a little to early to pop a bottle) but so far so good, seems to remember the switch position also which the old drivers would not (would get a black screen on login which I could not recover) -
I would suggest to stick this post on the head. 'cause it's a major advance for all the R1 users, like me.
btw, do u guys really think it's better on the 260.99? thx -
Get driver sweeper and delete the Nvidia+intell backup from Dell folder on your hard drive. -
Got the GfxUI error
Tried the Hero1711 method, but the result is still the same. Otherwise the switch works fine. I'm rolling back to the 197 driver...
-
those who got the GfXui error before (whether you already fixed it or not) i wanna ask what language is your operating system? maybe i forgot to include the files for other languages...just a thought.
-
Just an update - I managed to fix it with a second reinstall. I don't know what I did exactly but following the steps for a second time fixed it for me. Everything seems to be working fine and no more errors. Thanks again RigelKent for all the work
On a side note I dont seem to see the dramatic performance increase that these drivers supposedly give but new drivers are always better than old drivers anyway. -
-
English US I think. Though the region and the language for non unicode programs are set to Bulgaria
-
Mine is English US & English US for non-unicode.
-
mine is french version windows7 64bit professional
-
-
i cant seem to get it to go into test mode
-
Oh well - switching still not 100% still won't load drivers on occasion needing reboot - same error device can't find enough resources.
Darn thing seems to be the bain of this laptop, still at least the CPU OC is 100% stable. -
Hi there,
thanks a lot for every effort!
I can't download the 260.99 hybrid drivers: access is denied (maybe it's a metter of corporate firewall).
Is it possible to download it from other sources?
BR,
Mvcc -
Intel 2226 driver just out....will be making a package to include this and see if it will be better and be less problematic for those having problems.
-
Maybe it's related to the GfxUI.exe error, but I can't use the FN+F1 combination to manage outputs. I have to enable the secondary display (65" TV) in the nVidia control panel with my only option being it as a secondary display and it said that it was a "Synaptics 2xx" display. Synaptic makes the touchpad, so ? The TV was a 65" Olevia with an LG panel and an ATI / Realta HQV image scaler.
-
i now have 260.99 + intel 2226 package, though im still thinking about whether to upload it here or a new thread...hopefully this installer will be less problematic for some people.
262 series are out...but wont make a package out of it yet unless the WHQL versions are out. -
upload to megaupload or whatever. Make a new thread. Go for it! Will we still need to initialize test mode?
-
Will be keen to upload new Intel driver package - is this now the one linked on the first page????? -
Bump.. Just checking to see if you're still with us RigelKent
-
I'm interested in this as well, but due to all the problems everyone seems to have had, I'm holding back at the moment. I just did a major reformat and upgrade to a bigger drive, that took me a couple days. I think I can live with the official drivers for a bit unless I have a major gaming problem or my LCD explodes. :3
-
-
please pm me w/ a link i'll gladly beta test
-
is there any method of getting these drivers on without enabling test mode in windows?
-
1. somebody reversed engineered the process of properly signing drivers and whql-certifying it.
2. nvidia will be kind enough to sign our version of drivers for us.
both scenarios highly unlikely.
currently busy closing 3 projects, will be back and then upload the latest build. -
Ahh someone picked up the ball for the R1 users, good stuff RigelKent. From the looks of things you are doing fine if you have any questions ask away.
(The Aliens let me go..)
EDIT: Interesting that you say Intel 2226 is working.. Ill have to check'em out on my VGN Vaio Z. Great work BTW.
Worst situation is creation of an automatic driver signer which signs the drivers right after they install. -
Nautis - nice to have you back.
-
Yep, at least for the m11x R1 intel 2226 is working, am using it as we speak,
thanks for giving me the idea of separating the installers ala optimus, 1 for intel then another 1 for nvidia! I will test that soon, I feel that we may be able to come to a workaround for the driver signing issue and completely eliminate the hassle of having to boot into test mode all the time!
meanwhile here is my latest build, 260.99 + intel 2226
260.99 + Intel 2226 Hybrid.rar
same instructions as before, will try the suggestion by nautis to eliminate the the test signing requirement.
p.s. were you "probed" onboard their ship?, how does it feel to be their "alienware"? peace man just kidding.
EDIT : im excited about the notion that having 2 separate installers may alleviate the test signing requirement, will work on this ASAP, i also hate being in test mode all the time. -
Yeah I had gone the separates route for that very reason and could swear I had it working fine. I tested it many times after the initial success but couldn't get it working again. In theory this should be the solution though.
