Yeah no worries. Sorry about all the issues.
Hybrid Graphics notebooks are extremely finicky. What works on one may not work on others, and sometimes things change version to version. Since I don't have all 14+ Hybrid Graphics notebooks to test with for each and every driver, the trial and error process falls upon you guys. So while I can for the most part put the drivers together, the real and final results come from you.

This is why I am excited to see more people trying their own hand at it. You guys sometimes find things that work that I may have either never thought of, or have dismissed because it did not work in the past.

So an update on my issues (which were DX failures upon game launch for various games including F:NV and COD:BO/MW/MW2):

I installed the 258.96 driver (in Discrete-only mode), and it seems everything works (well, you know, except for switching). At the least, those games were able to successfully launch.

Interesting that none of thise worked with the 260.99 drivers.

I'm willing to test stuff for ya Nautis, but I'm also willing to wait if you want a break. Current stuff works pretty well :D

No time for breaks, too much to do still. :D

EDIT: N260.99/I2246 64bit M11xR1 for a test. Please test without signing them first. T-20/25mins. :D

hd audio failed, installer says everything else installed.
    edit: drivers not actually working.
device cannot start, says drivers aren't verified, both nvidia and intel.

i got it to work but i seem to be having the phyx issue now. If I switch from from nvidia graphics to intel, and back to nvidia, it seems to be locked in phyx>CPU. The only way to get the physx to use GPU is to restart the computer in nvidia graphics

is anyone else having this issue?

Maybe structured threads such as "M11xR1 Hybrid 265.90 driver" etc.
The naming of this thread was "fit for purpose"(good) for the original driver being developed at the time, but as Vorob suggests, comments unless well defined well become confused within this thread unless we know what versions we talking about.

I don't feel it would be beneficial if every person working on their own version of the same driver all opened their own thread through, cause that would just become excessive.

    Just my thoughts.

I don't see a problem cause i think nautis is the only one who work on driver now... Anyway it can be smth like "M11xR1 Hybrid 265.90 driver (Nautis)"

Look how much new threads are created by noobs, moders are not closing them, so i see no problem if there will be few more normal threads :)

Vorob: I think RigelKent might take offense to that, since he's also working on drivers and he started this thread!
Nautis: After signing both drivers, it works fine.

Using DSEO, it's linked on the first page of the thread.
You have to activate test mode with the tool first, then use the signing feature.

Yes, switching is working fine. Haven't checked if the 335 powers down yet, guess I should do that now...
EDIT: WOAH, we're back to the old method! It powers down 1-2 seconds after switching to Intel. No 15 min wait.

Hi guys, ok tried Nautis new 260.99 nvidia hybrid package found on the previous page, switching works etc. but when in Intel mode the LCD brightness is dim and no way to adjust it. I thought it was supposed to work on the M11x with A05 bios (which I have)?

Also, tried out Nautis's new alpha 265 nvidia hybrid package, the switching doesn't work properly -> you can switch to intel mode but you cannot switch back to Nvidia mode, though the icon indicates you're in performance mode you are clearly NOT, it doesn't switch back.

Can you give a little bit more info about WHAT needs to be signed, and WHEN?

Like specifically which files, and is it needed to be done pre-install or after they're installed.

    Thanks.

Follow the below instructions that Nautis has written on his thread and I have copied for your convenience:

Driver Signing & Test Mode for Unofficial 64bit Drivers
    1.)Download Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider
2.)Disable UAC (Can usually be done by typing MSCONFIG in run and going to the Tools tab. You can re-enable it after installing the same way.)
3.)Run the Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider and choose "enable test mode"
4.)Reboot. (You should see Test Mode at the bottom right corner after reboot.)
5.)Run the Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider again and choose "Sign a System File"
6.)In the box type "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\nvlddmkm.sys" and click ok (do not include the quotes.)
7.)Click "Sign a System File" again and this time put "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\igdkmd64.sys" (do not include the quotes.)
    8.)Reboot and all should work.

OH AND DONT FORGET YOU MUST ALWAYS RUN IN TEST MODE, EVEN AFTER SIGNING WITH THE OVERRIDE TOOL YOU MUST CONTINUE TO RUN WINDOWS IN TEST MODE AS LONG AS YOU ARE USING THE NEW DRIVERS. OTHERWISE YOU WILL GET A BSOD AND NEED TO ENTER SAFE MODE TO UNINSTALL THEM.

Awesome, thank you for this. I figured it was just those two .sys files, but wasn't really able to get it to work when I was tinkering yesterday. I'll give it another go here in a bit.

On another note, it's far faster to disable/enable uac by pressing the windows key, then typing uac.

Yeah, already have UAC disabled (first thing I do upon installing Windows).

I think I figured out my issue.... My AV threw a fit over DSEO. I had told it at one point to ignore whatever threat it was, but I think maybe it ignored my instructions. I can still run DSEO, but none of the drivers show up as signed after a reboot. Once I get off work and can get to real internet, I will try to redownload DSEO and see how that goes.

For now, I'm back on the discrete 258 series driver that was working beautifully for me yesterday.... but it has made my framerates drop since 24 hours ago. Kinda odd.

I believe Nautis and some others are working on simplifying the driver update procedure for Windows Vista and 7 - at the moment there is no way around the driver signing/test mode UNLESS you have the following:

    Windows XP 32bit or 64bit

If you are running Windows XP you may just download the drivers and install as normal (ie as if you had d/l them from nvidia directly) as there is no driver signing enforcement, no test mode etc.

The drivers from the nVidia site will only work in "discreet only" mode (in bios).

RigelKent's are the least work as they're test-signed and ready to go. You do have to disable intel though..
    Nautis' have a better installer.
Neither will destroy your laptop. They're still "official drivers", just the installer/config is tweaked.
If it doesn't work, uninstall the drivers. Running in safe mode or discreet only will bypass the drivers long enough to do that, at least.

As far as I've noticed the new 260 version drivers are only really good for new games - Starcraft 2, Fallout New Vegas etc.

They don't do anything for older games. (May even slow things down slightly)

    As a rule of thumb:

If you plan on playing 2010 games, get the new drivers

If you mainly play older pre 2010 games (eg. Counter-strike Source, Half-Life 2 etc.), stick with the stock ones.

The only other benefit to the new drivers is you save more battery power.

Tried with a fresh download of DSEO and I'm still unable to successfully sign the drivers (at least not to the point that they work). They install fine in Test Mode, but when I do the required restart neither of the drivers will load. So I use DSEO to sign the *.sys driver files in c:\windows\system32\drivers, and reboot. Neither drivers load again upon the reboot, and Device Manager still notes that they are not signed. If I press F8 when booting up to allow unsigned drivers, they load up just fine.

    Any thoughts?

Even after you sign the two files you still have to run Win 7 in test mode as long as you use the custom 260 driver sets. There is no way around this atm. the signing tool will automatically load with win 7 each time you start unless you tell it to stop booting in testing mode by activating the .exe file again and selecting the appropriate option. You can get rid of the 'test mode' watermark on the desktop if thats bothering you. Wait till Nautis or someone else comes up with a better installer.

i was able to get the hyprid driver on page10 to install, im getting the .exe error when switching to integrated graphics as well.

I downloaded the latest intel accelerated drivers 2226 and was unable to get it to install, nor do i find the temporary folder under %APPLOCAL%. So yea, it doesn't really concerns me but would like to share my experience.

Are you starting DSEO by right-click, "Run as adminstrator"?
Not sure if it's necessary, but it certainly doesn't hurt.
God, F8. Reminds me of my readydriver plus days. What a fun little hack that was.

@zchay7e: I'm pretty sure that the signing tool does not start every boot. Test mode is built-in to Windows, the tool just makes it easier to enable/disable

I am running in test-mode, and have been for quite some time (required to get my USB DisplayLink device to work, which still functions). I removed the watermark a long time ago, but I even re-applied the test-mode hack to make sure I'm still running in test-mode with no change.

I'm not doing the right-click --> Run as administrator trick.... my account IS the administrator account, and I have UAC completely shut off. If my account has access to delete/modify system files, then I should also have permission to sign them. Still no dice though. I'm getting to be rather baffled by this.

    Thanks for the input though.

    OK, new tack :D
Have you checked the signature of the files to make sure they're actually getting patched (and not forgotten)?
In Digital Signatures, the name of signer should be NGO.

There we go. The nvidia file still shows signed by Microsoft Hardware Compatibility, and the Intel side of things remains unsigned. Even though DSEO says it has successfully signed the files, it hasn't. :-/ Hmm.

Running the 258 driver right now. Gonna reboot a few times and get the hybrids installed and play some more with it. This is getting downright silly lol.

Thanks again for the help, btw.

EDIT: I'm really running out of ideas now. I reinstalled the hybrid drivers, rebooted. I did a bit of reading on the NGO boards about people having issues with getting the signing, so I completely disabled my antivirus and removed the two *.sys files from the system directories before signing. I ran the signing tool, making sure to type every letter just right. I dropped the files back where they belong and rebooted... to see that they remain unsigned. I'm losing my mind with this issue.... and feeling really stupid in the process.

Hi all!! sorry for my bad english! I speak spanish! :)
I understand that if you install the verde drivers and you select in bios "only discreet mode" you can use safely without bsod's the nvidia card with the latest drivers...
my question is about to switch later to the intel card... can i select in bios just to use the intel card if i want to save battery life? or i will get a bsod?
im thinking about doing the manual switching between cards in bios but i dont know if this is possible after installing the verde drivers

I tried to do that but you cannot switch. If you set to discrete, then install verde drivers, THEN go back to bios to activate switchable, Windows will not recognize the drivers anymore and you will need to re-install the stock drivers from the dell website (the version 197 drivers).

When in hybrid mode, you can install the plain intel drivers - BUT nvidia chip stays on all the time unless you go into device manager and disable it.
There is a script somewhere that does this for you, but I can't remember where it was.

OK so i reset all nividia options after installing newest drivers, then I set physics to gpu only, and vsync always off. i oc'ed my gpu to 500/1200/850. rebooted and i never had games run this smooth in the week Ive owned this laptop. stayed below 50 Celsius after 5 hours of borderlands/bfbc2 with a constant high fps 40+in borderlands and 20+ in bfbc2. With a 3d mark score 6492.
    current setup:
    m11x r1 oced 1.6 :(/G.SKILL 8GB 204-Pin DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) F3-8500CL7D-8GBSQ/stock hd ssd is in mail along with intel 6200 :) oh and a coolmaster U2 cooling pad must have if you ask me!
