Same here , i don't really care about an optimus , i just want one key switch for battery life , and one key for gaming power with new drivers.

If that can be done , i'd be SO glad :D

    Thanks !

I just found out that there's a firmware update released in March 2011, are there release notes of some kind I could find?

I think this whole area could become a point of renewed interest.

What if a usable Optimus Nvidia driver is developed for the M11xR1 AND then that same Nvidia Optimus driver is switchable with the latest Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator.

This would be a new hybrid driver with Optimus features.

Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver 15.17.17.64.2413 for Windows 7 64bit

That'd have to be way cool. :D I'm excited, are you guys excited.

Very :D . Now I'm waiting for that miracle where someone figures out how to get 2 ghz on the r1 CPU without hard modding it. Too bad BIOS modding won't work :( .

    HYBRID Driver Status :

So far I cant get past this brick wall, can switch from NVIDIA to intel, but can only switch from intel->NVIDIA through tedious tinkering. Which is a hassle really.

    OPTIMUS Driver Status

I think this is ready for release, improved power consumption a bit when nvidia is not being used, but not as efficient compared to hybrid and real optimus.

I may release the OPTIMUS driver earlier, if anyone is interested.
So anyone willing to beta test?

Anybody askes directly Dell ? Was just wondering , maybe it's just like talkin' to a wall , but there must be a way to contact the person who made the original Hybrid driver , and may help us in creating it , or maybe inform if there will be an update ?

Even if i'd rather have Hybrid , i'd be glad to have the Optimus working ones :)

Ill upload the Optimus driver tomorrow when i get close to a high bandwidth connection.

Improved the installation method for both Hybrid and Optimus versions of the drivers....just download and install, no special permissions to set, no driver signing or test mode / signature enforcement anymore. just simple download and click to install.

Credits goes to Nautis, Andrew08, DrGoodVibes and to all the other pioneers, just combined what you guys thought of originally.

Testing it right now :D I'm plugged on AC @school right now , this afternoon i'll be on battery. Let's try how long is will last :D

    BTW , you wrote 280 , it's 285 right ?

How does it work basicaly ? I mean do we have to whitelist all app that need GPU power ? Freq are very low so it can save battery , but how to bump them ?

    135 core / 270 Shader / 135 Memory

BTW , is it normal that the Nvidia control panel is empty ?

Its 285, already corrected the link, also in Optimus the switching from intel->nvidia, nvidia->intel is done automatically, when NVIDIA is being used you'll see normal frequencies.

UPDATE : currently uploading empty menus fix

So far , the panel is empty as you can see , and the nvidia didn't seem to switch on ( i can barely reach 20-25 FPS in Street 4 Title menu .. didn't even go further , seems that it didn't switch on ) ( i'm on AC , Gaming power plan enabled via gamebooster )

Also failed to start Crysis 2 , got a message like " This Video card Intel 4 mobility is not supported and the program may crash blabla "

Sleep mode works ( wasn't working anymore while i was on discrete mode ) but i still got the high definition audio problem , may not be related to it ( everytime i get to sleep mode and back on , i got something like 6 or 7 driver setup for " High Definition Audio " =

Its just the HD AUDIO installing itself the first time, after a reboot you wont see it anymore.

New thread up and new link uploaded : http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/618374-m11x-r1-hybrid-optimus-driver.html
