    i see, thanks.

now that i got my math back on track it seems that the modded Bios can help others trying the pinmods with RAM stability issues to get the 4:5 ratio. (mostly the 333mhz pinmod)

on the other side we have maybe one more possible option to go with 400mhz BUS if the CPU, RAM & chipset can hang.

    CPU - 2.4ghz (400 x 6 = 2400)
    RAM - 1000mhz (400 / 4 * 5 = * 2 = 1000)
    chipset - 1600mhz (400 * 4 = 1600)

one thing i noticed that might throw this whole thing tho...

    when looking at this post:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/611060-m11x-r1-333mhz-vis-bios-mod-7.html#post7967437

we see the timings lower further with the 4:5 ratio. this might make 1000Mhz not possible on some RAM. :(

sorry for double post but i may try this on my lunch break.

whats the method ppl are using to flash the Bios?

i did a estimate and with 2.4ghz, based off my current 3Dmark06 results i could expect to see over 9k. maybe even upwards of 9500 if the CPU was ever holding the GPU back with my current GPU OC.

The bios comes packaged and ready to flash. You just have to extract it and run the winphlash exe, then click advanced and tell uncheck "flash only if BIOS version is newer than system", then click flash bios.

Hmm maybe but think about what your talking about, a nearly 100 percent overclock! Would the processor even survive that?

the CPU would be fine. fist thing is even at my 2.0ghz OC im still under the Intel spec Vcore. i am also under the Intel spec temp.

overvolting and running hot... these are the 2 main things that will kill a CPU, GPU, RAM, etc...

but we arent even close to doing that on the R1. whats holding us back is the RAM timings and possibly the Chipset voltage/clock stability.

I have been really wanting to open my system up and finish getting power to pin 2, but I seem to have hurt my foot and I'm a prisoner of my couch. :(

    that sux...

can anyone with no pinmods run the Bios like this Overclock disabled, memory timing enabled, and take a screen shot of the memory tab in CPU-z.

    confirmed....

Bus driver and i have both had the same results.

pin2 CANNOT be enabled while pin7 is enabled. :(

i thought maybe my dipswitch was faulty and opened her up and manually re-soldered 3 time. it dose not work....

now going for 2.16ghz with the new ratio. wish me luck.

well sadly the timings are not dynamic. using the mem feq enabled option lower the timings to low to be usable for me.

they go down to 5-5-5-13 for 3:5 meaning i cant even boot at 1.73 non OC mode with mem feq option enabled.

well im back to 2.0ghz with mem freq disabled... :(

on the plus side there look =s like other goodies to play with in here. im gonna try to mess with the thermal stuff.

I'm kinda glad that I'm not crazy about pin 2. Let us know if you find anything interesting in the bios during your exploration.

    yea... oh well.

2.0ghz is nothing to be ashamed of. i still LOVE MY R1! :)

and now with the mem freq setting maybe some ppl might be able to get stable that weren't able to before as long as the RAM like the lower timings.

ill post back in this thread if i find anything cool that might be useful.

I stumbled over this program for controlling the RAM timing, but I don't know if it's any good?

Can some one please try it out, i'm kind of new to RAM timing and OverClock.
