Im doing a experiment with a 280m card and my M15x, Ive read from different people that it can be done, even saw so on this board.I put the card in and apparently its not being recognized. When I try to install a currently downloaded Nvidia driver it just says that no hardware was found. Any ideas?

extract the driver and remember the location. then go into the control panel and go to device manager. under the display adapters, right click your card and select properties. go to driver tab and select update driver. then select browse my computer for driver software, and choose the location where you extracted the driver.

The problem with that is that "Standard vga" has automatically installed so there are no Nvidia devices listed there.

Ok just a update, after a bit of searching I found out that you have to get a driver and manually install it from this site "Laptopvideo2go". Version 182.46 works, others might as well. This is just in case others are having trouble.

No need to go into any great detail but how does the 280m fair against the 5850 (clocked to 5870 speeds even?)

Well the 280m was scoring in the early 5000s in 3DMark Vantage.. I dont have a 5850 but my 5870 scores late 7000s early 8000s, and higher OC'ed. So I would go with the 5850.
