I tried the demo of crysis 1 on my m15x with the 5730, and i was able to play on all max settings except water and shadows(which were on high) with no problems.

I think this card is a little underestimated.

Perhaps it is, what resolution were you playing it at? Plus water, shadows and shaders are the biggest performance killers.

Have that card in my 1645 overclocked. Card is a beast, running starcraft at ultra with a few settings turned down and locked at 30 fps and never drops.

@Nivaku: No, the GTX 260M performs 25-30% better in 3dMark/Vantage tests. The 5730 is a step up from the old GT 240M but I definitely would want to at least upgrade to the 5850/GTX460M.

@IIAMRFJII: I'm not surprised that Crysis is playable on the 5730, It runs pretty handily on my GT335 on very similar settings.

Come on Laxxi play nice, any card is better than no card. Just because you have a 5850 does not mean the rest are bad. I'm back to my 260m GTX now as I fried my 460m.

Glad to hear that there are those who find satisfaction in the gaming performance of the 5730m, but the card can hardly qualify as a beast, regardless of the amount of alcohol consumed.

Oh rev I beg to differ. I played NFS Most Wanted on PS2 whilst under the influence and I thought I was being chased by cops for real. Perhaps it was because I was under the influence of not just alcohol... :D

LOL. A valid point. If alcohol can make us bulletproof, it sure ought to supercharge our graphics cards.

I'm actually still using the 260M.
Although I'm headed back to the UK on the 12th of May and the first thing on my list of things to do is get a better card! The second thing on my list is call a taxi to pick me up from Heathrow... But props for being a diplomat and I completely agree that any card is better than no card. I did notice that Dell UK is actually offering the 460M as the only option so I guess it's kind of unlucky for those abroad. Although we pay through the nose for these machines...

    High five for that! :D

Ohhhhhhhhh GOD I can't wait to get home.

Planning on doing the works. Might as well supercharge this thing and try and keep it as up to date as possible! Hopefully add some resale value too, just incase. Although I reckon it's worth has severely declined now that it's out of warranty.

Yes, that's a desktop card... It's hard to find a 5850 on ebay since the card is pretty rare. You might want to look in the NBR marketplace, directly calling Dell and order one or go for a different card.
