Hi all, I've recently installed my new dell 5870 in my M15X. Got a problem though, I cant get my external monitor working. If I use the HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable then it works but I want it connected using a DP to DP cable. I have the monitor connected using a DP to DP cable but it's not picking up signal. It worked before I installed the 5870 when I was using a 5730 but its not working now that I've installed the 5870. The monitor is a Dell U2311. I've read some issues with the Dell monitors and 5870 so it could be that. Just wondering if anyone has had any similar issues or knows what the problem might be.

    Thanks for looking.

I have a question that is completely unrelated to your problem but how much did you get the 5870 for I was looking to upgrade but still wanted to had my DP work via HDMI. Also do you have to downclock it everytime. Thanks for the help and hope someone can help you with your problem.

I had a Clevo 5870 which you need to clock yourself but it wasn't great, I was getting BSOD's and I didn't like having to adjust the clocks all the time. Thats why I bought this dell one which I'm using now. More stable, clocks itself, higher OC ability etc. I wanted the dell one in the first place but it was too expensive and that hasn't changed tbh. The clevo's are cheaper are more readily available. The dell one's a quite rare and therefore more expensive. I got mine for about £230 I think.

Did you order it straight from dell or did you find it on ebay or another vendor?

PM (((Stereo))). He now has the M17x-R2, but previously had an M15x with the Dell 5870m. I'm pretty sure he was using an external monitor, but don't recall which one. He is very knowledgeable and always willing to help. He still drops in here from time to time, but it would be faster to use a PM.
