Successfully upgraded from a 240m card to a 5870m last night. Although fan control needs to be regulated by HWinfo, everything runs fine. One concern is that the gpu IO would get to about 95degrees which I heard was normal but I would still like to lower it. HWinfo has capped my default maximum fan speed for 4500 rpm, do you think it's safe to increase it to 5000 or 5500rpm?

edit: The "max" allowed rpm is 7000, I've hit temperatures of 108 with my gpuIO and 102 with the gpu shader which I know isn't good. I have set current fan speeds for 5500rpm at high temperatures. I'm still asking if anyone has any experience or reccomendations with this.

P.s. One suggestion I would give about doing this upgrade is to get the red Dell card, I tried removing the bracket from the 240m and it didn't budge and felt like I was going to break it. The red Dell one has the same screw type for the heat sink and would not need the bracket replaced, the green Clevo card may not be the case.

I personally use Sapphire Trixx to regulate my fan control, as well as my overclocking on the ATi/AMD cards. Works great!

What kind of thermal paste did you use on the 5870? Do the memory chip have thermal pads on them? I would suspect you have the brace correctly mounted on the card? Have you gone through and use a can of compressed air on the vents on the M15x? Did you use a driver cleaner before installing the 5870?
