Anybody who has the 5870M in their system, what voltage does it run at in 3D Clocks? Mine seems to run at 1.150V, but I think it should run at 1.05V, whioch would explain my bad temps even after repaste.

Stock 3d voltage in my old 5870M was 1.15v. It could be undervolted to 1.05v, but was generally limited to or very near stock clocks (700/1000) at the reduced power level.

Thats good, I don't mine stock clocks one bit, 900p screen so almost everything can be maxed anyways. I think I'm going to try that. Do I have to use RBE? I can't change the voltage in AMD GPU Clock Tool.

Yes, using RBE to modify the vbios and then reflashing is the only way I know of to reduce the voltage. What kind of card do you have? Dell? Clevo?

Clevo, sadly. Theresd an option in RBE to enable "superior power play", but I'm scared of bricking the card.

It won't work anyway. Unfortunately, PowerPlay does not work with Clevo cards. We used shortcuts utilizing AMD Clock Tools with command line arguments or parameters to downclock the Clevo 5870M's to 200/300 or 250/300 for desktop or general use. Some had one shortcut to downclock and another to return to stock clocks. Downclocking in that way reduced idle/desktop temps 7-10C if I recall correctly.

Yeah, thats what I have been doing. So, I flashed a new BIOS. Modified the 700/100 one to 1.05V and changed fan tables so it hits 100% fan speed at 80C, not 100C, ha. I think I'm going to change the fans again more and so on.

Will do. One other question. Is there any way or program to control fan speed other than the Bios edit? I don't think what I did actually changed anything with the fans, as they didn't ramp up like expected.
