Those temps are not normal. Do you have the GPU OCed? I just ran a vantage bench and the max temp is 71C.

    My 5870m temps OCed @ 825 / 1200

You might want to repaste again. What thermal compound are you using?

I dont think its the thermal paste. Try repasting and post your temps. Remember less is more so try not to overdo it when applying the thermal paste.

Have you checked the heat sink? Is the exhaust clean?

I have no idea then... The other thing I can think of is the heat sink not making contact with the GPU but I assume that is not your case. Another question, how old is that thermal paste?

Edit: Try removing the thermal pads and check the temps.

ive tried stock thermal pads, getting about same temps, ive tried the screw mod where u remove the clips and put them back on the screww then use it as pressure on the heatsink. etc. etc. etc. just boughtt the paste from radioshack not too long ago

Then it leaves the fan... Is it working properly? I know its a silly question but any small detail can help you arrive to a conclusion.

yea, ive tried maxing the fan out actually and that didnt really help the situation either, even at idle ig to like 45 lowest idle at 4500rpms

Idle should be around mid 40s to 50. I dont know what else to look for...

Both cards gave you the same temps at load correct?

The heatsink will be a tough one to find... but here is where I bought my spare GPU fan.

    Link

Edit: Found the heatsink on ebay. Here

Edit: I'd suggest to wait for other members to give some input on this thread before you go buy these parts as it is unlikely that one of them is faulty.

Most of them should be working or at school so I'd wait until a couple hours. Dont lose hope.
