    Has anyone bought a 6970 from ebay for their m15x?

    i found this auction here:

    ATI Mobility Radeon? HD 6970m GPU MXM 3.0 Type B | eBay

    and was wondering if anyone has purchased it from them.

    The reason i ask this is because i would much rather get the card for $420 then for $600 from MXM or dell.

    I've seen the deal, but I'm pretty sure if you do buy it you'll have the fan issue because it's not a Dell card

    I dont mind the fan issue only because there is already a fix for it.

    Ive bought from them before they're legit. the cards are the same as MXM & Clevo( Rjtech) usually. I bought a few 460m from them and i got 3 clevo cards and one dell.

    If you flash the Dell vBios, you will also get sound over DP/HDMI as a bonus.

    The Clevo card works, I've seen this on a different forum, but the guy didn't flash the Dell vbios on it yet and didn't test DP/HDMI audio so far.

    420$ is a nice price, but keep in mind that the shipping is pretty expensive and that you don't get any warranty on the card (unlike MXM-upgrade or Dell for example)

    Yeah, the categoric statement that they will not honor any warranty agreement whatsoever concerns me.

    OK, so the card may arrive in a working condition, but what happens if there's a genuine fault with the card. It's a lot of money to waste - I'd stick with Dell or MXM myself.

    Actually, they will replace your card if it has a genuine fault which you can prove is nothing to do with you. It's happened to me before and they've replaced it after I sent mine back.
