Hey all, im having a few issues with my alienware m15x.

First all, startup time takes like 10 mins- i cannot enter bios and crap because it crashes the laptop i just have to let it sit on the splash screen until it loads.

Second of all im assuming my battery no longer works as when i plug my charger the laptop turns off - The battery charge check button doesnt flash or do anything. 1 day it works, the next day it doesn't.

In regards to the first issue, i checked my ram wasn't loose - 1 stick was loose but i stuck that back in and the SSD i have in there, All is fine from a inspection point of view can't see any other issues without stripping my laptop down completely.

Please tell me the 2nd fix is just a new battery :)

You said that, if you unplug the adapter it'll turn off?

Yes as in as soon as the power cable is out instant shut down, like what turning a PSU off on a desktop is like.

Could be that the motherboard has finally given up .. As in the connector to battery on the motherboard could not be working .. Also this would cause bios issues.

Your first problem - I presume by splash screen you mean the Alienware screen with the progress bar? If it is getting stuck there just try removing the battery and your hard drive and then see if it goes straight through without a problem. If it does try putting your hard drive back in and trying again and then the battery - see which part was causing the problem.
Your second problem may be related to the first if the battery turns out to be causing the long splash screen - in any event it is most likely to be a battery problem - i've seen plenty of batteries which show they are charged but wont power the machine when you pull out the AC. As the M15x is getting on a bit now and batteries have a fairly short lifespan - with the current generation of cheap cells they are using in them your lucky to get more than 2 years life out of it!

None of said fixes worked, i took the laptop apart to try get the mobo out for a replacement, took everything utpo the heatsinks for the CPU and GPU and thought hmm dont have any anti static around so ill put it back together.

First time it didn't turn on, second time it instantly booted up no hanging, battery is charging. So in all fairness it's most likely the mobo, ill look into getting it replaced.

    Thanks for the help :)

Edit: Battery isn't charging but is detected in the tray.
