Hello, I received my M15X last October, it has been amazing ever since, until now. Whenever I boot up my laptop I received the "ac adapter isn't the 150w originally shipped" error, although I have been using the same power supply since I got it. My battery will not recharge but will stay at the same battery life as long as it is plugged in. I hope someone can help me out, thank you.

You must still have warranty on it right?

I believe I do, but I'd like to find out if there is another solution before sending it off to dell.

    Try a BIOS reset.

Sorry, I'm not computer savy, but I am willing to do anything to fix this problem, will a BIOS reset have any change to the current settings and installations on my laptop?

When I got this problem, there was a simple solution - contact Dell and ask for a replacement AC adapter.

That's the first step you should take, and the easiest.

However, it may be a battery or motherboard problem (assuming that the battery won't charge). If you're lucky though, it is just an AC adapter problem.

Thank you, I'm going to do this right away, I'll post here if my solution is solved, just to clarify to others.

I had this error before, Dell support got me to do a battery diagnostic and then sent me a new Adaptor and new battery....... strangley the issue went away even with the old battery and adaptor so now i've two of each :) Did you download Batterycare to check the health of the battery?

    First Possability:

Are you using it on the same power outlet it was designed for? IE If you recieved an AC adapter with a US power connector are you using it in USA? There is a voltage difference between Euro and USA.

    Second Possability:

Take the battery out of your laptop. Unplug the adapter. Press and hold the power button for 30-45 second. Re-insert the battery. Re plug in the power cord and boot up.

    Third Possability:

Unplug the AC adapter from your computer. Disconnect the cord from the AC adapter (the one that goes from the wall to the adapter). If you have a voltometer - check the voltage in the plug you are using. There is a possability the voltage is too low. It should be at least 110 volts in USA, 220 in Euro. If you are using a surge protector (which you better be doing) verify the voltage output is correct.

My AC adapter is also from USA, I'm in Australia, but I've never experienced any sort of problems. Only thing was the warning message on boot up which I disabled. I just swapped out the connection point that goes to the outlet from USA to AUS, and never had any power issues or anything.
