    For your Information:

Today I Upgraded from gtx260m to M6000 blue PCB.
Worked out of the box! Used the AMD autodetect tool for driver install.
It went from FurMark Score 304 / 5FPS on the GTX260M to Score 756/ 12FPS.
    Here is the score:
    http://www.ozone3d.net/gpudb/score.php?which=307223
    http://www.ozone3d.net/gpudb/score.php?which=307305
Power usage is similar to GTX260M so no worries about that. Fan works too.

    got it form ebay:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Dell-AM...449621?hash=item33b1b03e55:g:q1sAAOSwqu9VAq-h
    cost about 93$ or 83€

    So, highly recommended!
    Cheers

Just got my m6000 off ebay. Unfortunately it shuts down my system whenever I try to launch a game. Like literally hard shut down (not reboot) at the 'loading' page. Thought it might be a driver issue so I uninstalled my old NVDIA drivers using displaydriverremover and reinstalled the new amd drivers just to be safe. This got me to the next screen , which is a launch video , before the shut down occurred again.

Really confused as fiddling with the drivers got me some improvement though it still doesn't work. Could it be a power supply issue? Using an m15x with a 940 processor and stock power power supply (100-240w) and no other modifications or overclocking.

Edit: just realised I installed the card without applying any thermal pads . I put thermal paste on the die and nothing else . Could this be the cause of my problems? Have the pads from my stock 260m, will these work? Where do I put them ?

    Hi!
I just read your Email. I use a i7 920 processor and stock power supply. So power could nearly ruled out.
I reused the pads from the 260m on similar places on the m6000. The driver was removed by system setup. (I dont think its the driver)
So it could by that somehow if the shader unit gets used the machine gets a reset ( just guessing)

    So I would do:
    reopen the machine
remove the card and plug it in again carefully
add the thermal pads on memory chips and power converter chips
    reassemble and restart...with fingers crossed

of course because of ESD these cards shall only be handled at the edges...

What are your temps before the shutdown happens? Have you tried running some benchmarks to see how hot your CPU/GPU gets at load?

What Kosti said. Yes you certainly need to place thermal pads on the vram. MXM cards need a little love and attention :)

    1. Open up,
    2. Clean the die
    3. Place the pads
    4. Repaste
    5. Close up
    6. Install gpuz and check idle temps. Then run the gpuz render test until temperatures peak. If temperatures are stable then you should be ok. If temps go above 85C and keep rising then stop the test and check the vents and heatsink fins are not blocked with dust.

Only then play a game. Always take things slow after installing a new card.

Also recommend installing Hwinfo to control the fans. If you use headphones full fan speed won't bother you but will keep the gpu temp down even more.

    Hi guys,

I have too a problem with the installation of M6000 card. I have bought it from Ebay like "new" and i have installed it following your tips:

    1. I have replaced the xbracket of the M6000 card for the xbracket of my GTX260M.
    2. Place the pads.
    3. Repaste.
    4. Connect the new card.
    5. Turn on the laptop and at first all ok.

But passed few minutes (indeterminate time), the screen turn off in black and the laptop is locked, doen´t work. When i boot it again the scrool + caps is flashing and the num is solid. If I remove the power supply and cell battery and power cycle or i power off the laptop and wait during for example 1 hour (+/-) without to do nothing, it'll go away for awhile but return.

I have monitored the temps and it seem to be normal, the temps when ocurr the probem is 39ºC.

I have had time, before the laptop "live", of uninstall the old driver and installa the new drivers for the AMD series 7800. But the issue continues.

I have tested it with the bios A08, A09 and unlocked A09, but the same thing ocurrs.

I have removed the ram and reinstall again and the same thing ocurrs.

I have rested the bios (unplugged the battery during 30m.) and the same thing ocurrs.

The power supply is the original and the processor the 740QM.

I don´t know what to change more.

    Please, any have any idea?
