ATI Catalyst? Mobility Display Driver

installed working great. haven't had time to bench yet.

 

Did you have to modify it b4 install?

 

ive managed to install it with no issues as well.

run the suite from ati website.
click download and then install.

Select custom, go all the way to selecting options to install and at this point exit and click finish.

uninstall the old ati driver from control panel.
choose custom, untick hdmi and then next next next etc.

reboot.

go to ati folder.
C:\ATI\Support\10-7_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc\Config
edit file called InstallManager (use notepad)
change this line from
WorkaroundInstall=false
to
WorkaroundInstall=true
save the file.
go back 1 directory to
C:\ATI\Support\10-7_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc
run setup
choose custom and you will notice hdmi still there.

click next next next etc and your done.

posted as i thought the hdmi info might help others and if all goes well you should see this from the ati information center

Installed it the instant it came out. I benchmarked Final Fantasy 14. ATI 10.6 Gave me 2035 @ 1080p while 10.7 gives me 2355 which seems to be a big jump.

What are your specs?

 

When you talk about choose custom and you will see hdmi? What does that do?

 

When you choose express install it will install everything. Custom is when you just want to install a component of the driver like ccc or hydravision.

 

Oh...it not bad if i choose express right? That what I been doing since 10.3.

 

Nope express installs are good. I think its actually the norm.

 

why does it matter if we use the workaround or not? what happens if we don't?

and can someone please upload the modified version like with 10.6? I don't feel confident in messing around with the files

 

I installed the 10.7 drivers. Changed the workaround from "false' to "true" , played some games and everything ran fine.

I go to update my WEI score and my primary hard disk score drops from 6.9 all the way to 5.9.

What does my video card driver have anything to do with my hard drive?!?!

ughhh I hate messing with drivers.

 

the driver won't install if you don't do the work around. its very simple, you should learn to do this.

 

I think the work around is for installing the ccc. If you don't want to that then you can't install ccc but you still can install the 5870 driver.

Tried to run 3D 06- Crashed on me twice with new driver.

 

So what exactly was fixed

 

showed people custom as for now i don't know how to install the hdmi driver and express install removes it.

it also shows you if you have modified the InstallManager file correctly as you see more options before you comit to install.

starcraft 2 out today, expect the driver has that in mind as well.

vlc hd better support was my main reason for install.

 

My processor rates at 4.7 and my ssd rates at 6.8. Before updating, my Windows Expierence Rating was above 7.1 for everything


EDIT - Re-ran the assessment, My SSD is now at 6.9, Processor at 7.1 and RAM back to 7.4, but my SSD is still .2 short from its old reading. I don't get how my SSD is pulling up lower numbers considering it's a graphics card driver! (If it helps my M15X came with the Samsung 256 GIG PM800)

 

the windows assessment can change everytime you run it. I wouldn't sweat it.

 

You know perhaps I am lucky, but I just installed the driver. no changing the workaround line, no anything but allowing it to install.

 

Nah somethings defiantly up. It remains at 6.9 when it should be 7.1, something is making it lose performance.

 

wei is overrated you should use real bench marking tools.

but if you wish, do the power drain trick then rerun your wei.

 

DAMN ! still the CCC problem with the new driver come on ATI !!!!

Somebody there can "release" the driver so it works ?

 

Maybe you need to do Garbage Collection?

 

Okii now my gfx is STUCK !!!!

I have now 3 time tryed to install the driver, but 2 / 3 part thrue, it just does nothing..

I don't get any error, but notheings happens ??

I have tryed the 3d guru driver sweeper..


It stuck in the part of analyzing ?

I have made the Thrue / False fix, but still nothing happens ?

 

How do uninstall the previous driver only, under the Ati folder I see both the 10.6 and 10.7 folders but how do I uninstall the 10.6 only.

 

run the 10.6 exe, but choose the uninstall. the folder will still remain there after you uninstall.

 

The garbage man comes through my PC at least once a day. I have major OCD to the point where I don't even use desktop icons, only use quickstart taskbar. I reverted back to 10.6 drivers since 10.7 was messing with the SSD.

I know that WEI isn't really a benchmarking tool but for the hard drive rating to go from 6.9 to 5.9 something must be going on.

I reverted back to 10.6 and the score went back up O_O

 

Nobody there now what the problem is with the CCC when I allready have made the false / thrue fix ?

 

Crelle, do you have an 5850m card? What driver is currently installed?

Enumerating Source Media for installable packages "freeze" when you install the driver, try installing to a different directory

I tried to install it and apparently it installs, but it says I can't open CCC or change the display res to 1080p.
I've tried to install it like 8 times to no avail.

(It says installation finished but CCC won't open up)

 

This may be much too over-simplified for someone of your experience, but the following steps will get your drivers and CCC installed and working.

1. Start|Control Panel|Hardware & Sound|Device Manager|Display Adapter|(right click) ATI Mobility 5800|Properties|Driver|Uninstall|Select (check) "Delete the driver software for this device" -- the current driver will be uninstalled.
2. In Device Mgr, select Action|Scan for New Hardware. It should find the 5850 and install the standard VGA graphics driver.
3. Reboot
4. Start|Control Panel|Programs|Uninstall a Program|Right click on ATI Catalyst Install Manager|Change|Next|Uninstall Manager (top selection)|Next|Custom|Select All|Next|Finish|Finish
5. Close Control Panel. At this point, your video driver/software installation should be clean and using the W7 Vga adapter.
6. Reboot optional.
7. Open Notepad and load c:\ATI\Support\10-7_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd _ccc\Config\InstallManager.cfg and change the entry "WorkaroundInstall =false" to "WorkaroundInstall=true."
8. Go to ATI|Support|10-7_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc and run Setup.exe, which launches Install Manager.
9. Select Install|Express|Next and agree/accept all options
10. Click Yes (Reboot).
11. When Win7 restarts, the 10.7 drivers should be fully installed.
