Hi there, I've had my M15X since May '10 and the cpu temps used to idle at between 45-50C.

Lately the cpu temps seem to be idling at 64-70C!!! and they increase rapidly when i start opening up programs :( ......my gpu is still running at a cool 49C.

Any advice? I've already cleaning out the fans so there is no dust! The fans seem to be running at top speed to deal with the temps too....ALL the time aha

Does it sound like the thermal paste needs reapplying?
I would be pretty nervous about doing the job myself

    Thanks for any help :)

I would say reapply thermal paste to your CPU if you're worried about it. If you're uncomfortable call dell and have them do it. Quad cores idling at about 45-50 is normal, 60+ is rather high though.

I'll try and find a guide to it on NBR, there must be one. I have reservations about asking dell to do it after some of the stories i have read on here though :p

Repasting is pretty simple. I recommend using non conductive paste, like mx-4. It's pretty much fool proof. There is also a guide in my sig, if you need one.
