    My beloved touchpad stopped working!!

The other day i noticed that my touchpad randomly stopped working while i was browsing the internet. I checked my drivers, went to dell site and dowloaded the latest synaptics driver. I restarted all was well. Today the same thing happened, after i unplugged my wireless g7.

    Note:
Nothing was changed on my laptop prior to this happening
The box for disabling touchpad while external usb is plugged in is unchecked
The driver says its working properly and enabled

I have no idea what to do :(

    Did you try Fn+F12?

I don't believe that is the problem. When you press fn+f12 the light around the touchpad turns off as well when you disable the touchpad. However, the light is on when I have this problem, and my touchpad works sort of in certain spots of the touchpad but the mouse just jumps to random spots on the screen. As I'm writing this, I have just turned my laptop on, and my touchpad is working, but I just don't know for how long. =/

I think I figured it out. I believe I ended either one of these tasks in task manager, SynTPHelper.exe or SynTPEnH.exe, they are for the Synaptics helper and the enhancements. I guess I figured they were useless and ended them which caused the touchpad to act weird.

Its better to be without synaptics.. the driver is known to mess things up in M15x.. I mean its My advice!

If you advise to do away with synaptics, what driver do you recommend.

By uninstalling the synaptics driver would I be defaulted to a normal touchpad driver automatically, or do I have to find some generic driver?

You'll automatically use the windows default driver after uninstalling the synaptics driver.

For me, just use the Dell Support driver Dell Support

By the way, does the touchpad works well on Linux, like Ubuntu?

@pepemosca I already have the synaptics installed, but if you read a few post above yours, a user said to not use it because it causes problems in the M15x.

That's why I had asked for an alternative.

Don't have an answer for you ubuntu question though

The best combination for m15x touchpad is A09 bios + Windows drivers. Work flawless for me.

Ya I believe the problem initially arose when I ended a process I shouldn't have ended. So, I uninstalled the Synaptics driver, it asked me to restart, and all seems well.

    Appreciate the help once again.
