Haha good luck with that, but from what I can gather some of the guys in the forum can tweak it for desktop versions. We have to wait and see until some suggests something. I am in line for the same (drivers also) buddy!

How about we hold a petition? Would that change Dell's mind? I mean there are still ton of M15x users out there right?

I am on Win8 RC and Command Center is working fine on my laptop. Still have facial recognition, lighting zones, etc.

EDIT: Figured I'd add that all I did was go through the upgrade process from Win7 Pro to Win8 RC. Was unbelievably easy. Easiest windows install I've ever had actually :D

Hmm funny I did a clean install of Win 8, wasn't so lucky, the touch panel did not work! and my killer drivers were crapping out!

Any update on a Windows 8 version of Command Center for M15x?

Otherwise, any clarification regarding if I were to do a clean install of Windows 8 and then load the 6/17/2010 2.5.54.0, A07 version of Command Center? (this is the latest version I see listed on the Dell site)

    Thanks.

There are no plans for a windows 8 version of command center for the m15x, however, the latest version for windows 7 runs fine. I'm using it now.

Just use the Win7 version, I don't think a Win8 version will come out as the M15x is not included in the list of supported platforms.

What's the difference between Commander Center for Win8 anyways? I'm on Windows 8 and Windows 7 Commander center is working just the same.

The newer command center for 8 is for the newer systems, m14x-r2, m17x-r4, m18x-r2, etc.

The windows 7 version is fine and is all we need for our systems. It works fine on windows 8 too. The newer version doesn't support our models, but there isn't much difference at all.

out of curiosity as the cc doesn't like having an older version installed over a newer one and basically destroys your fx lighting...would say upgrading to win8 with the newer cc cause issues if you were ever to go back to win7 with the older cc? or would somehow the win8 cc work for the win7 as well?

I think the bricking problem doesn't occur on the newer models as my M17x R3 has had its CC reinstalled from the disk after I had updated and it is working fine. The difference is that the newer ver of CC which the newer alienware models use was incompatible partly with win8 and had loads of issues, so the win8 ver is just mostly a compatibility patch.

No, it won't brick. As long as you're using the latest release, it will work fine regardless of the os.
