I have looked around and haven't found any optimization threads around.
First off, how do i change my alien theme? i have tried to change it but nothing happens, jut stays the same.
secondly, how can i make my system smoother? as in not have as many processes running.
    any help would be awesome!

Run Start/All Programs/Stardock MyColors to launch the AlienGUIse controller and select "Restore Windows Default Theme" from the left column. Then you can adjust your theme(s) any way you desire.

With regard to optimization, you might start at Black Viper's, which shows recommendations for how to configure default services under various use scenarios, together with an explanation of what each one does.
