First of all, hello to all , totally new here , but came by a few times before i finally decided to buy an Alienware M15X.

So, i had my Alienware M15x for 15 days and yesterday purely out of the blue , the boot screen did-not load , (i mean the animation that comes along with the "starting windows" text) , instead it skipped directly to the login page .

But when i plugged in the charger and restarted it , it booted out perfectly the normal way.

    I tried that a few times and it always comes to this ;
-> The boot is perfectly normal when under AC power (Charging)
-> No animation screen on bootup , directly to login page when on battery (even on 100%).

Please help me out guys. :(

PS -> Sorry for the spelling mistake , its weird :p

It might be a power setting thing... Have you gone through the advanced power settings to see how it is configured for battery use?

It might be the AC Adapter dying....

But I'd do a power-drain just to be sure:

    Shutdown the system,
    Remove the AC Adapter,
    Remove the battery,
Press and hold power button for 45-60 secs,
Replug the battery and power cord,
Restart the system and check for errors.

I think you should do a h/w diagonistic run(press F12 while loading) and check for errors ....

And it might be advisable to give Dell a call because I suspect a faulty AC Adapter or battery...

No trolling, just a question??? How could a dying AC adapter cause the boot process to change? If the adapter were dying, then it just wouldn't charge or be able to power the laptop, and therefore always run from battery, correct? I thought I was pretty knowledgeable about computer hardware, but I have no idea how that could happen, please explain? This is one of the things that I love about this forum, is the opportunity to learn things! :D

My guess is that when the computer is on battery, it is going to standby instead of shutting down, and then shutting down normally when the adaper is connected. One way to test this is to shutdown the computer while it is plugged in, and then unplug it and turn it back on. If the computer is doing what I suggested then this would force it to shutdown, and then do a normal boot from battery.

Just a thought, but it might be the brightness of the screen being turned down to nothing when its booting on battery, have you tried hitting Fn+F4 when the "Welcome/Resuming Windows" screen is supposed to be on, if I remember right this has happened a couple of times to me.

I think it happened to me when I had my brightness all the way down when running on the battery before shutting it down/hibernating.
