    Hi

I have looked in the registry and my bios is vX36 P3 (08/29/2008) i have downloaded A02 from dell as this is more recent and have been reading on here i need to upgrade to A02 ---> A08 ----> A09.

Unfortunately i reboot go to the F12 page select my CD drive, it all starts kicking off. But on the bios update after the first 3 steps i get the error message Phlash 16 Error part ID not found in table of supported parts. I dont know what this means.

A google search has just directed me to forums with people talking about BIOS Mods.

    Thanks for your help

I guess you have the wrong BIOS... Your system seems to be an m15x (pre-Dell) and not an M15x (which was released in Sept. 2009).

So get the proper BIOS and it should work.

Ah thanks for that didn't notice the difference in name. I have a follow on question now. I was doing this as I wanted to update my graphics card and for some reason believed it was best to update the whole computer.

Since then and through many hours trawling around here and on google i got myself the 186.xx driver for my nvidia 8700M GT, which allows me to play the game i couldn't run. This has made a massive difference also to the thermo fan temps; down 80 to 50 on the VGA skin temp and 90+ to 55 on internal.

I have been worried about the high temps for years but bar a few shut downs when i assume they got even hotter the beast has survived.

My question now is should i continue to update the BIOS i don't think its ever been done and if i should can anyone point me in the direction of the RIGHT downloads.

    Thanks for everything

Check out the legacy section here: Alienware Area-51/Aurora and Legacy Systems

I really can't help unless it comes to the Dell AW M15x. But I highly recommend to update the BIOS anyway and also to clean out your system and repaste CPU and GPU.
