Hey guys, it's been a while and i've had this problem for almost one year.

So I currently have Comcast as my ISP. They are great, works on all computers except this Alienware m15x. I did ping tests on the m15x against my other laptop, My alienware seems to time out a lot. While the Macbook pro never times out nor do any other of my computers.

So whats the issue? I updated the drivers for the networking card. Still the same. Lag spikes.

    Thanks.

    I had the same issue with my machine. I did a clean sweep of related drivers. Ran the CCleaner with all options checked. Did the power drain trick;
    1. Turn off the laptop
    2. Take out the battery as well as the AC power
    3. Press the power button for 15-20s
and then put back all the things and turn it on

After that make a clean reinstall of drivers, make sure that u install the drivers for ur specific wireless card

Check out ur system configuration at dell website (by putting in ur sevice tag, which could be found under the laptop)
U'll find out the Wireless card e.g mine was 5300.. Download the drivers from the website, do a clean install and restart ur system.

There u go, feel free to rep+ IF it helps! :)

    beh0pper,
Is there any pattern to this lag?
I am having a similar issue, my lag starts after having the laptop on for more than 24 hours.

Do you have the WiFi Link 5300?
I do and it seems saadleo also has it and he had issues. Maybe there is an issue with that card and the factory install or drivers?

Yes, 5300. And yes, after about 12hours it starts to mess up real bad. Timing out consistently. What have you guys done to solve these problems?

It would be harsh to hear that I would need to replace the motherboard. :(

I thought I was going mad! Although I dont leave my laptop on for 12-24 hours, I have had wireless network issues for a while, where if I am transferring files between my NAS (or downloading from the interenet) it just gradually drops (in performance). I have had three router replacements in the life time of my M15x, I just thought I was being unlucky with my routers. (when Ive transfered files from NAS to netbook, this tends to be more reliable). The reason Ive never really investigated is that I only transfer / download large files rarely.

Will give the re-install (the driver) option a go later, see if this helps.

    beh0pper,
Try updating your drivers from here:
IntelĀ® Driver Update Utility for wireless networking

I updated from there and made my preferred band 2.4GHz, and wireless mode B/G in advanced device settings. Guess you can't do that if you use 5GHz. Haven't tried it with A and 5GHz active.
Have been up for 4 days and 17 hours with no issues. Previously, mine would start acting up shortly after 24 hours
