    Hi

    I have a m15x, had it a year. i7, 260M, 4 gigs RAM, windows 7 64bit.

I've had this problem for a white now. All games, even games that should not lag on a PC with these specs (ie WoW) lag intermittently. They will run smoothly for a few minutes, then lag up for 5-30 seconds (this varies alot) then suddenly switch to smooth again. This is very noticeable because it's a big relief on the eyes when it suddenly all goes smooth again.

This happens in The Witcher 2, Shogun 2 Total War, 2 worlds 2, Stalker: Call of Pripay, WoW, Portal 2...everything! It's so annoying, even when I turn the graphics of these games down, it tends to lag up less, but even on *good* graphical settings (that the laptop should be able to run) it runs perfectly smooth, then lags up, then smooth again...but the fact that it runs smooth for a while shows that the PC can handle that, why can't it maintain it at all!?

Please don't tell me to update drivers..I have. Same with Windows updates. Stealth mode is not on (my stealth mode key doesnt even respond anymore). It's on high performance, running off AC power always, I never use my battery and have actually taken it off. I don't have any procceses running in background and this will still happen. I want to try updating my BIOS to A09 from here: Drivers & Downloads ... but when I try run the .exe files I get an error 'The version of the file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running' and I don't know what to do from there because I can't find any other BIOS install files!

It may be a heating issue...using CPU monitoring programs I've noticed cores are getting to 80-90 degrees. I'm going to go clean my fans now but there's not much else I can do. I have gotten 3-5 blue screens recently saying 'A clock intterupt was not received' and I've also had my display driver crash and then recover. Very worrying...seems like all these problems are relating but I have no idea what to do to try sort this lag issue out. Please help

    Thanks

Yeah you need to install the new BIOS, seems like throttling. What i7 do you have? Have you tried to download the iso version and burning that to a CD then booting from that? Also perform a repaste and a general clean out.

Download, install and run HWINFO64 to see what your temperatures look like. HWiNFO64 Download. (Click on the Sensors tab)

Just opened my case and cleaned everything out with compressed air. Started up and laptop is completely silent, games aren't lagging even anymore! My temperatures are down 30 degrees to about 50.....will let you know if it goes back to lagging but I'm amazed at what a good clean did!
