Just got some today. I was excited based on suggestions. Temps are now worse than when I was using mx-4. GPU is 6 degrees hotter on load. My CPU temps are around 1-2 degrees hotter on load per core. I am using the same testing method I used on my Coolermaster U3 thread. I reapplied the paste twice. I am using a small drop in the middle of the die and allowing the heatsink pressure to spread it. Seems a bit thicker than mx4 but not too thick as it spreads well. The temps are disappointing though. Does this stuff have a curing period? Any suggestions?

Maybe I'll try warming it up first. I can't increase the pressure of the heatsink any further if that's what you mean. It's already making solid contact and don't want to risk any damage to the die. I'll let some more benchmarks run to see if it reacts better after a few hours. Otherwise, it's coming off and I'm sticking with mx4.

Happened to me as well on my 6700k .
So here's the thing, GCE is a much thicker paste, and the brackets aren't tight enough to spread it properly.
    So I just put a big ass X .
Don't put in too much that it may start to ooze out, but way more than conventional. Dropped my temps by 3c compared to ICD7.

Hey thanks for the reply. Did you warm it up first like others suggest. I don't find it to be that thick. It's somewhere between mx-4 and as-5. I'm gonna try reapplying it again tomorrow.

I wouldn't bother with GC extreme. Get liquid ultra, I use it on GPU and CPU and it is wonderful. easy to apply (but be careful), permanent, best thermal transfer.

    Nope ,didn't warm it up.
But as @Raidriar suggest CLU will be better, but be very careful with it.

I would suggest kryonaut instead of CLU. But that's just me.

There is NOTHING that can compete with metal TIM, plain and simple. as long as you are delicate in applying CLU/Conductonaut/Phobya, you should be fine. works great.

Yes, but I don't have as much balls as you do to actually use metal TIM

I tried the spread method using the included applicator on my GPU. Now temps are better. Tops out at 73C load using the same tests. No improvement over mx4 but I'll give it some time to cure.

I use GC extreme and its great stuff! I did nothing fancy, just spread a bit. Dropped temps by at least 3 degrees over ICD!
