As many know A09 still buggers up the fans on startup every other time and makes them go full boar.
I know to shutdown, take the battery out and discharge the mobo and it stops it, but then it'll happen again a week later.

Just want to know if there's a bios update in the works to fix this?
Dell still has A09 as the latest.

Because they're not producing the M15X anymore they don't support new bios production?

usually it does that to warms up the laptop from a cold boot. Fan should slows down when the laptop is at the certain temperature. If it lasts for more than 10 minutes, or the whole time you start your laptop then something's wrong. For me i'm also using A09, and most of the time the fan slows down automatically after a while.

there is a modded bios that i'm using by the way, where there are more functions for you to play with in the bios. still, do it at your own risk.

Yeah, it does slow down on it's own after about 5-7mins...

I do only ever get it from a cold boot, so we're on the same level here.

So it's not a really big issue?

I don't have the greatest experience of bios modding, closest I've gotten is data retrieval.

It happens rarely, but it does get loud and with everything I have plugged in, all the Hard drives, tablets, speakers, mouse and monitor it is just an annoyance to unplug them all and discharge the mobo...

What could be wrong if it lasts the whole time? Just in case if the fan is ongoing...

nothing to worry about really, it's just the fan kicks in to warm the laptop up. in case of the fan going all the time, which rarely happens, just restart and you're fine. actually what's more annoying for me is when thottlestop and OSD fails to run properly on startup (had i7920 so need to use throttlestop) so yeah. the only way to fix is the restart. well that happens more than the fan issue.

Ah sweet as, thank-you. :) Good to know it's nothing to worry about, which I thought it was initially...

I plan on upgrading to a 920XM in 3 - 4 months with tax return. Woot.
So I'm then gonna come back and ask a lot more questions about the bios.

    Thanks heaps, mate. :)

Can you go straight from A02 to A09 BIOS? Is it a straight forward process?

No you must upgrade each BIOS update..A02..A03 etc...Its easy if you just burn the update to CD then boot from CD. I did this a few days ago..

Wrong, the only requirement is to get A02 before anything more recent if you're on A00 or A01.
And don't dare flashing A03, it bricked many M15x.
