I've got $125 to spend on Amazon.com, plus another $100 that I can use if I need to. I would rather not use the extra $100 if I don't have to though.

Anyways, long story short, I need some help finding the right type of hard drive to upgrade to. Could anyone give me some info on which one I should order? I would like to stick to a 7200rpm drive if possible...

    I already have a 500gb 7200rpm that came factory...

Also any tips on how to clone my current hard drive over to the new one once I buy it would also be awesome. I understand I can probably find most of the information on cloning my drive online, but I thought "since we're all here, what the heck"

I think you already have the fastest hard drive available on the system other then a ssd. If you want to upgrade i recommend you to upgrade to a ssd. Other then that you can add another hard drive by removing the optical drive and replace it with another hard drive. There a guide on the forum that show you how to do that. I'm not really should about cloning a hard drive. You didn't specify what you want to upgrade the hard drive to. You want to upgrade to a bigger hard drive or a faster one? Because for a standard hard drive 7200rpm is the fastest for the M15x and I think 500gb is the largest you can get.

    Sorry about that, I was hoping to get a 1tb 7200rpm, I wouldn't pass up a 1.5tb or 2tb 7200 rpm either though!

    So long story short...

I have $125 on Amazon.com, I can spend as much as $225 though, want a 1tb or larger HDD, and want to stick to 7200rpm. I've looked myself numerous times but I don't wanna buy the wrong type of HDD so that's why I'm asking here.

Thanks again for any help/time invested in helping, its greatly appreciated!

Awesome, thanks a lot for the help. I was more looking for space more than speed. It looks like I'll be waiting for some 1tb 2" internal HDDs to become available.

    Thanks again guys!

What if I was to buy this 128g SSD- Amazon.com: Kingston SSDNow V100 128GB SATA II 3GB/s 2.5 Inch Solid State Drive SV100S2/128GZ: Electronics and install Windows 7 and games on that, then switch my 500gb HDD over to the Optical bay for my music and videos and such? Would that work? If so, what would I need?

I've read http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...drive-hdd-caddy-installation-56k-warning.html and I don't know which of the caddy's I would need to buy to switch over my factory HDD to the optical bay.

Thanks once again for your help guys!
