Everything went well with my M15x before DriverMax told me there's an update 13.2 for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5800 Series, and so I agreed to update. However since updated, I am unable to get control of Catalyst Control Center. This is the error message I'm getting: original.png
My initiative brought me to AMD support official website and look up for official driver that I thought may fix the problem. In its official page, I found an 13.4 update for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5800 Series running Windows 8 64-bit, and again I updated it.

However during the installation progress, it crashed and shows BSOD (the one with sad smiley), it then restarts itself. After restart, my computer just keep on crashing everything it tries to boot Windows (can't get into Windows 8 lockscreen) until I hard reset by pressing alien power button. After hard reset, the PC automatically scans for problems, diagnosing PC, and magically restores to a state when it believe my computer didn't have a problem, which in this case a state where I just installed new driver from DriverMax (13.2 update). Until then my M15x works again.

The problem is, now that I try to reinstall the driver, it always brings me back to that BSOD bootloop. Staying in this driver is not a good option since I can't open Catalyst which means I am unable to adjust my screen's brightness (Hotkey brightness control stops working since Windows 8 upgrade). And in right in this moment, I wish someone smarter could tell me what to do. Thanks and have a good day!

So is catalyst still installed? Or Uninstalled;still has files?

    Regardless,attempt to remove EVERYTHING AMD.
Download a program called Driversweeper, extract it to a folder and reboot in safe mode.

Once in safe mode, load Driversweeper and click on the 'remove AMD files' button.

When you uninstall drivers; files are always left behind; With amd cards, settings are saved too, deleting these files ensures a fresh start with absolutly no graphics driver files which will cause conflict with newer drivers - This is the situation you are currently stuck in.

After this has been done, follow the prompt to reboot your computer, make sure you are not in safe mode or your new driver you choose will simply not install.

Research which driver is the best for your graphics card through google or other methods and try from scratch.

Please remember - not all cards like all drivers - especially if they're an older model.
If you have trouble just repeat the following steps with another driver.

Just make sure you manually remove catalyst control center via the windows uninstaller first before running driver sweeper. I didn't for a while and It caused a lot more problems. Don't be lazy like me and do it right. :p

I tried it, it is too, crashes during the progress. So I assume manually reinstalling or uninstalling is the main cause of BSOD bootloop.

Yeah, I've danced this dance with AMD a few times. Can seem pure pot luck if something will go wrong or not.

Have you given it a few more goes at uninstalling using the express uninstall ? It can be temperamental. In the end if you can't uninstall using the uninstaller I'd be tempted to first try reinstalling the same driver package and if that fails then
switch to iGX and manually remove + followed by Stevies excellent full removal guide here (behind the spoiler): http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m18x/631626-m18x-amd-updated-driver-p06-8-902-released-dell-discuss-here.html#post8151526

Incidentally, Windows 8 safe mode can be tricky to get to. I've found this helpful in case you don't already know: How To Boot Into Safe Mode On Windows 8 (The Easy Way)

Have an attempt through safe mode or iGX as Yeti said.

hello, I've already done the first step which is boot into safe mode, run Driversweeper and let it do the work. Now I'm back in normal mode with unusual screen resolution (1024 x 768, limited to 1152 x 864). Catalyst Control Center still appears in list of all my programs. This leads to my concern that ATI drivers in my computer haven't been totally removed. Should I proceed finding new drivers or should I make sure that my old drivers are no longer on my computer?

    EDIT:
It appears that Catalyst Control Center is corrupted and cannot be uninstalled because the directory does not exist. I can see that Driversweeper has done a terrific work, I will go on and try different drivers.

Your first issue? Using a program to let you know when drivers are out. 13.2 is pretty old by now.

Try using this one. Just install it now, although you might not have everything removed. As far as you've said, it's probably nothing to do with the drivers, which is the important part to remove.

first issue with display drivers I might add. Having the latest driver to be beta build, have you experienced any crashes? or minor glitches perhaps?
