    For extended battery life.

I use my M15X @ school, and required the 9-cell as it affords me fairly decent run times.

FYI, I get around 2:45 on a fully charged battery.

Also the 9 Cell kinda props the machine up a bit more than the 6 Cell therefore allowing for better cooling. And trust me, cooling is very important for any machine out there in the world. Especially important for the M15x since for me I do a lot of hardcore gaming. But hey I have the 6 Cell and it cools just fine as well. My point is that with the 6 Cell you have fine cooling, 9 Cell you get better cooling and extended battery life as well ;)

@Khybrid, How much battery life do you get out of the 6 cell and 9 cell battery on regular performance(i.e wifi on, screen brightness decent etc.) ?

For my 6 cell I get about 1hour and 30 mins on a full charge, with a 9 cell I reckon it would be about 2 hours+ like what QuikJ said. Don't be quick to judge I know 1 hour seems like a small amount of time but keep in mind that the only way to achieve maximum output in gaming is to keep it plugged in :p bring a charger with you ;)
