I had an Antec notebook cooler which was great but it got lost when i moved.

The only downsid is the USB cable is a bit flimsy.

    For those that care:

    Cooler Master NotePal U2

This is currently on sale until the 13th. Use coupon code YZJ5980 to apply an additional discount.

For those who wanted a cheap cooler, this seems to look like it will do the job. I ordered one

I have the older model of this one, but still it works perfect. Aluminum construction is amazing, and when the AC is blowing cold throughout the night and the pad is cool for morning gaming, it keeps the computer very calm when OC'ing.

I havn't got my M15X yet, but I'm wondering if I should get a fan before it arrives. How are the fans inside the M15X for cooling it, and are there any serious overheating issues? I don't plan on doing any unhealthily lengthy gaming stints on it yet, at least not til Guild Wars 2 comes out, so I might hold off for now.

i don't see a need for a cooler for a m15x @ stock speeds. but i do recommend one if you are planning on oc'ing anything.

Cool, cheers. Not planning on overclocking yet, so I'll look into one later. Just trying to only buy what's necessary as I've already forked out enough on the machine & accessories.

I have the Zalman NC-2000. It's not strictly required, but a little extra cooling can't hurt :)

if you have a 6 cell battery then just proping up the back end with a book or something will gave you lower temps.

I have the 9-cell battery and play my games at 750/1070 (5850) and my laptop temps stay pretty decent. (Without a cooling fan)

I'm sure it'll run a lot more cooler when I get the Zalman which I'm ordering tonight.

Will keep you all posted! :D

I thought cooling pads are useless for the M15x because the bottom of the laptop is completely sealed and the only opening is the heat vent in the back. That's what I was told anyway... I bought a Zalman just incase to see for myself, and when I monitored my temps with Hardware Monitor, I noticed no decrease at all when using the pad.

It has 2 fan vents. One on each side of the battery pulling air in to cool the heatsinks. I tried using a crylo lx, suppose to be one of the strongest cooler out there and it didn't help much, i think it didn't helped at all actually. But keep me posted on results.

sometimes blowing air into fans can have a negative effect primarily if the rpm's vary.

i'm curious since i'm relatively new to the laptop scene, but has anyone experienced a negative effect by using a cooler?
i mean, noticable fan damage, possibly even higher temps?

i've always used just the 9cell battery for elevation or a chopping block to raise the rear a little for extra ventilation and let the fans do its thing. i clean out the vents every 2 - 4 weeks depending and have put my own thermal paste.

some of those coolers linked look kind of crazy however... would be nice to also mention... how loud are they? all though that can be deceptive since usually the loud fans are the small ones.

For the best laptop cooler while using the M15x on a desk, get the Zalman hands-down.

But if you want a cooler to use while you on the couch, in bed, and basically anywhere else than a desk (when your laptop is actually on top of your lap lol) get This Targus One. It got the best reviews out of all the laptop coolers. I have one, and its awesome. Diffrence being its lightweight and comfortable to sit on your lap (has a gelly/spandex/cushion material underneath), has dual usb powered fans, and is quiet. Also, it's the exact size of the M15x, so you don't have the extra bulk, and you'll forget you're using a laptopcooler. Did i meantion it cools really well? :)

    Just my take.

with the zalman i have the air vents over the perforated holes so that it gets air right to the vents so its moved forward a good inch plus this helps with decreasing temps and i used it alot more before i redid my thermal paste.

been using a cooler master sf-19 cooler for the past week and would highly recommend this cooler to everyone. i've used a zalman and nzxt crylo before and this is by far the best. i only use it at my office more as a dock, i connect everything to it. and the looks is awesome like it was made for alienware, even has changeable lighting.

CoolerMaster Notepal U2. Nice and light which is good if you travel around a lot. I don't actually use the 2 fans that come with it though...never had the temp issues to warrant it

i have a zalman nc2000 with my M15x and i can tell you it makes near to no difference on GPU temps. I am tempted to get a NZXT Cyro LX or coolermaster sf-19 both are louder than the zalman but should have better cooling.

tbh i don't see a need for a cooler, because when I have my laptop on a flat surface while gaming my temps will hit as high as 91c. If i elevate my laptop from the back end or entirely using a book or something similar my temps don't go over 78c-80c.

My temps end up going up to around 87. Just the shader clock. And the memio gets up to around 86. I've repasted a couple times and that's as low as I can get it.
