Ok I just received this laptop today it is my first alienware I have been googling my tail off and have given up on researching so now I'm posting.

    Specs-
    i7 740q
    4gb ram
    Radeon 5730
    250gb 7200rpm

What started it, I was downloading some windows updates when it said to reboot I selected ok and after it proceeded to shutdown upon reboot I went into bios menu to change one setting I went to advanced and selected ddr3 power mode 1.6 then selected quit and save. After that it wouldnt turn on. The fx lights turn on and then they stay on and screen stays black. I think it screwed up by going into bios and not letting it finish windows updates, I just forgot I was doing updates like an idiot.

Things I have done alien head reset, pulled battery and unplugged a/c, now when I have ac plugged in trying to turn it on it just reboots over and over, the screen still showing nothing. I have tried connecting to another display, and turning up the brightness, still no luck on getting the screen to show up.

Another problem is I can't open this thing up without voiding my warranty and I would like to see if there are any other things I can try before next week when the service guy comes out. I would like to use it this weekend. Thanks in advance let me know if I left something out that may be needed.

Dude get back into bios and then put your ram back at 1.5v and all will be ok.

Thanks Kurt for all your help, I called Alienware to see if I could remove the CMOS battery without voiding my warranty he gave me the OK I pulled it out and put it back in. It booted right up. Thanks Again!
