So I attempt to play newely purchased Bluerays on the computer and Cyberlink 8 tells me I need to update. I hit the update button, it says "Update complete" and then I attempt to play the blueray. It asks me the same thing, and this process continues, and I cannot watch all of my Bluerays. Not to mention, while viewing the bluerays I can watch on the computer, they sometimes freeze during scenes and then catch back up. Any advice? BTW, technical support from Alienware is very difficult for me, because I am in Iraq and they do not offer online technical support...

Video card drivers and drive firmware are the only other things that come to mind. Figured I would drop that in there. But the gpu drivers are something you should be able to figure out very quickly yourself. The drive firmware if available someone with the unit might be of better help.

having been stupid before in the past with buying laptops with bluray only to find out every time they up the java security on blurays drives in our computer keeps getting left behind. Ive made many calls only to be told it isnt compatable with newer java security.

Hmm. Well I figured out how to download the update I need so I am currently doing that. Hopefully it fixes it. Of course the internet is incredibly slow over here so downloading anything takes forever.

Hope it works for you. If you happen to get it to work let me know so I can get my wife's HP blurry working on newer movies

It worked :) All I had to do was open cyberlink up and hit the little blue arrow at the top left of the program.

Always keep your playback soft up to date that usually works if that dosnt flash the drive to the latest firmware. Probably never the gfx card driver. I had to update powerdvd to get re afterlife to playback in 3d on my desktop

I brought the gpu drivers up because speaking of 3D that was actually a specific issue with earlier nvidia 3d drivers and bluray 3d. All that is of course passed now and not as likely to come back up.

@Kurt part of the copy protection is to lower the resolution if a "component" of said protection is missing. This might make it blurry in a sense and needing of something updated.
