After a clean install of Windows 7 my Bluray drive does not play Bluray discs anymore, but DVD's and CD's are fine. I tried installing the drivers from the Dell support site Drivers and Downloads but that didn't work and a pop up screen told me i had to run as administrator (which i did by right clicking the icon) so i'm stuck with a dead BD rom drive. Also the device manager insists mine is a Optiarc 5600S and on the M15X didn't come with this. Any thoughts what i can do? Need desperate help. Thanks!

Its not a big issue, I had the same thing, but the discs played fine when I installed the Third party Bluray players... you can google them!

Just downloaded and installed PowerDVD Ultra 11 and same message "No disc inserted". I'm becoming bald after tearing half my hair out. So frustrating

Are you sure that you installed the right drivers? Just asking because its recognizing the optical drive wrong. If you installed the right drivers, try to roll them back and see if that helps.

CHeck to see what device Windows thinks the drive is - uninstall the driver and try again. It's unusual to be able to install an entirely different driver, but it seems possible. You could also open the case and double check to verify the drive number. There are drivers on the Dell site.

    Good luck,

    Joe

Much as I dislike it, VLC is free and it apparently plays Blu Ray discs.

I'm inclined to believe that if CDs and DvDs are recognized ten Blu Rays should be with the correct software.......

What shows up when you open 'Computer' to view drives etc?

In Device Manager it states that my optical drive is "Optiarc SATA 5600S..." and i know the driver is wrong but somehow the driver got there and everytime i uninstall it and reboot, it will automatically install the same driver. And i have tried installing the "CA10N...." driver before rebooting, but it says the "make sure you are administrator...." (which i made sure i was by right clicking and 'run as admin..'). So am i stuck? or is there a way to hard flash the BDROM?
