Does anyone use this or another site to test before you buy if your config will run a game? How accurate are these sites?

I noticed that a lot of the games I suggest on it now I am getting told my graphics card is 5 months out of date,,,I just updated through Nvidia 2 mins ago.

Also got told my CPU wasn't good enough even tho the suggested spec was up to an i-5 750,, and I am running a i-7 740 Quad 1.7ghz,,, wouldn't that handle it?

Was thinking about just getting Origin access and trying them anyway.

Those sites are mostly wrong. The only surefire way to know is to watch youtube performance videos on the same/similar hardware.

You can also compare your current vs. recommended cpu+gpu on benchmark lists:
Ticking off ' Still available (not archived)' will show pretty ancient cpus and gpus for comparison. CPU performance increases have been lagging pretty far behind those of gpus, so an old, yet powerful cpu will still get you a long way.

which game are you going to play? :/ I'm using i7 740QM too, it goes up to 44% usage in GTA V and it does well with high setting at 1080p + FXAA, achieving 40FPS and sometimes drop to 25 in some crowding areas.

Wasn't really looking at any specific game as such. I was looking at taking up Origin and was just looking at the included games in the Vault. Games like Assassins Creed Black flag, Dragons Age Inquisition , Titan Fall 2 , and Crysis3 as I played 1 and 2 .

Interestingly tho I just tried GTA V on can you run it and it says my CPU the same as yours isn't good enough to run the min ?

Mine runs Crysis 3 at 30FPS with High settings + no AA at 1080p and GTA V even better on High settings + FXAA at 1080p for 35-40 FPS

I just installed GTA V and was just wondering as you have the same system if you too get the warning msg when you first boot up. It says something about "your CPU does not meet the min frequency settings if you proceed you may have issues"

It still loads up and started to play through the first cut scene in the bank,, I just exit then and thought I would check first seeing as I remembered you saying you played it on the same CPU ??

it's because our CPUs are running only at 1.8GHz but they're quad core so there's nothing to worry about :D

Literally told you no when you started your thread. It is not worth 450$ for an 8 year old computer that hasn't been upgraded.
