    Hi guys,
I've been having this weird issue lately. My GFX Card was perfectly over-clockable in the past until I changed my drivers to 267.24. I could still OC at first but a weird problem occured when I cold started my system this morning. The last night I had played Metro2033 flawlessly at 803/1353/1600 MHz. But this morning my clocks came back to defaults automatically. I tried OC using Afterburner, EVGA precesion, NVidia OC tools, Rivatuner etc but to no avail. No matter which s/w I used or which driver I upgraded/downgraded (all clean installs using Driver Sweeper/CC Cleaner).

Now I'm stuck with Dell's default driver driver and stock clocks and I'm experiencing some massive FPS drops as compared to my OC settings. The problem is whenever I drag the slider to any frequency in Afterburner/Precesion etc, the clocks just cant be applied n it reverts itself to defaults.
I'm not in stealth mode and I don't wanna do a clean Win7 reinstall. Any suggestions guys.

    Well my first post here;
I just got my notebook yesterday, and was wondering if the default clocks in my GPU are too low.
    Mine's at 570/625/1140-(core/memory/shader) as per GPU-z.
    How much is yours?
I also downloaded MSI Afterburner for overclocking but not sure how to proceed with it. (too afraid i guess)

Sgt. it sounds like you may have a corruption somewhere in the driver or driver packaging(nvidia control panel, etc.). What you need to do is:
    1-download driver sweeper
2-boot into safe mode(hit F8 a few times as it's booting up, then select safe mode)
3-open driver sweeper and click the boxes next to anything that says Nvidia, I believe there are 3 of them, click analyse, click clean, select no on reboot and close the program
4-reopen driver sweeper and do the same again, it should have cleared everything out but once in a while it doesn't, once it's done reboot your system this time just into normal windows
5-install your choice of driver, 267.24 is alright but my results have been best with modded 266.66 drivers
6-open nvidia control panel and click "restore" on the different options pages to make sure it's at default
7-try it again and see if you get the same results or not then report back
PM me if you have any questions :D

@Dane : Thanks for the advice. Although I always use Driver Sweeper in safe mode before driver installns, I'll give it one more go with 266.66 drivers.

But I got a problem. I can't find modded INF for 266.66. Can you please post me a link bro??? Thanks.

One more thing, I believe your 460M is from Dell and not Clevo right? How far can you push the clocks in your card. I was previously using Clevo's card and I was using 800/1400/1600 clocks daily. But my new card from Dell refuses to be stable at these clocks. Any suggestions???

Sgt. I often run into that problem I just turn Stealth Mode on then off again. It is a bug that affects only the GPU that makes it think it is in stealth mode when it isn't and therefore refuses to OC.

266.66? Didn't knew that was a version for Mobile.
Acording to this: 26x Series GeForce Driver Releases - LaptopVideo2Go Forums
The 266.66 is just for Desktop.

Also, here widezu69, says the 266.66 and the 266.58 are the same:
BTW, thanks all for the suggestion on using the Driver Sweeper ( Guru3D - Driver Sweeper) on Safe Mode.

Wow Widezu, thanks man. It worked like a charm. ;)

@Pepe: have been using 266.66 from laptopvideo2go and so far this is the best driver for my 460M. Have played Metro2033 for 3 hours @ 1080p/High settings n got 30-50fps overall. :D

Also, what were your OC settings?

    Thanks man!

@pepe: seems like the laptop2video2go site was down for a few days but the INF file can be found there again. I would ve posted u the link Bruv but I'm currently at work using my iPhone. Hope you don't mind. ;)

By the way,I saw a lot of users using 266.66 drivers for their 460M coz the 267.24 drivers were junk n it stutters in almost all the games I tried. Only give u back the brightness control but I use 100% brightness all the time so it doesn't matter to me. Try 266.66 n UNLOCK the beast in a 460M.

I currently game at 745/1560/1600 clocks. This settings rips through Crysis n Metro2033!!! :D

They are the same. .66 just has extra support for other desktop graphics cards.

Hi, i'm sorry to ask, but how do you do this ? i'm having the same exact problem, and i really can't find any solution to oc my gpu ( only ram works fine ).
I'm not english speaker ( and so isn't my windows ), so i don't know what you are talking about when say stealth mode. How do i turn on and off it ?
If this solution works, that would be awesome. I tried so many " solutions " given everywhere ( change the .dat on msi afterburner, about 15 different drivers, flash bios from my msi gt663r... ) and still can't make it work. Just driving me so crazy...
Thx for your time and answer.

Stealth mode downclocks and slows the computer, mostly so that it can be used with a power source lower than AC, such as airline or automobile power connections. It is enabled/disabled by pressing the icon/button on the touch panel which looks like a speedometer or tachometer located right above the Delete key. When engaged (slowed) the icon glows brightly; when disabled, the icon dims. It is very easy to hit the stealth mode icon accidentally. Toggle the icon to see the change, and then assure that it is off/disabled with the icon dimmed. It has been responsible for more unexplained slowdowns of the M15x than any other cause.

Thank you for your answer. So, stealth mode is specific with alienware. I have a msi, so this doesn't apply. Have to figure something else :(

I'm not familiar with msi, perhaps it has a turbomode button located somewhere. Try posting a screenshot of your GPU-Z. We'll know if your system was downclocked or not.

ok, seems i finally solved the problem. It was, i think, a cold bug from my gpu. Had to flash bios with nvflash, change settings, then go abck to original vbios.
Then i installed 275.27 modded drivers, and have to follow the right pass to get my oc working :
at boot, turn on msi afterburner, kill msi oc tool, then turn it on, turn on msi turbo mode, then turn on gpuz. If i do things in different order, oc won't work.
Right now, my oc is stable at 820/1440.

So finally i didn't manage to really solve this, but any it works, and that's enough for me right now.

    mine is @ 800/1500/1600
modifying vbios or Nvidia System Tools
and Nvidai Inspector are good for overclocking
