Bit of a weird one here. I'd like to reformat my M15X, I haven't used it in like a year and I can't remember the password to get into it, so I was going to download the drivers for it and do a format, blah blah blah...

So I go the Dell support page and it asks to either do a System Analysis (stupid because I'm not even on it) or asks for me to type in my Service Tag, which I thought "OK, great!" but when I type in my service tag it comes up with M17X and barely any drivers... o_O

Hopefully I'm being stupid here, but why the hell can't I find the drivers on their driver support page? And why is the service tag coming up as an M17X!? I wish I could have afforded one of those!

Lastly, and this is more of a sidenote I guess because I'll probably take it to a PC repair shop: The battery won't seem to hold a charge, so I bought another one and it does the same thing. As soon as the charger cable falls out the laptop dies straight away. Is this a known fault? Is it the cable? Before I forgot my password I remember it always saying "plugged in and not charging" in the corner.

    Bluergh, this is stressful!

    Thank you.

Thanks! Why do you think my service tag is coming up as an M17X? Very weird lol.

There are two chipset drivers, do I need both of them? I am following this guide.

As to why your service tag is showing you another laptops's drivers. That's Dell's clowns for you there. Get used to it.

Thank fully this is my last Dell system and so many others here too
