This has been bugging me for a while now..

If my laptop is running on battery and "sleeps" (either through idleness or shutting the lid) then I cannot adjust the screen brightness..

Worse, my power plan dims the screen to 20% before it sleeps .. so it gets stuck at this rediculously low brightness.

The only solution so far is to reboot.

    Anyone else having this problem?

    Note:

    Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1

Was using an older Catalyst driver from 2011 .. just updated to 8.951.0.0 (08th March 2012) to see if the problem goes away

Go to ur plan, create a plan or use existing plan, go to change plan settings -> change advanced power settings -> power buttons and lids -> lid close action -> do nothing either on battery or plugged in (i use plugged in). Then simply put the lid down (make sure ur plugged in when u do it), wait few seconds then pull it up again. I recommend u create a new power plan, then switch the time u need it.

I suggest you run a diagnostic to see if it is a LCD problem or not
