    Great, thanks for posting!!

Do you think there are some improvements over the previous leaked 8.86? Worth benching? :D

They seem pretty much the same as the 11.5b/8.86 set so far, but haven't done anything other than compatibility testing with 3dMark11. The performance (relatively low level settings - 800/1050) seemed more or less identical. No major jumps this time. Reported to provide significant improvements in Witcher 2, but Release Notes are not yet available.

Ok, thanks a lot for the info. With drivers getting released about every month I'll have to bench again at least next month :D

Installing. Testing to come on the witcher 2. ;)

Not much difference over the last RC 11.6 Rev posted in the Witcher 2. Somewhat playable at 1080P Ultra (Ubersamp off and Shadows to High), around 20-30 FPS flotsam.

No overdrive with 6970m though :( also the installation for me at least was missing the audio over HDMI drivers which I thought was strange. Had to install them separately from 8.86

Sorry if this was mentioned before. For those who want to obtain the latest HDMI audio driver, you should download the desktop driver.

Double click it to let it be extracted, but do not proceed the installation. The driver is located at:

    11-6_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl\Packages\Drivers\WDM\HDMICE\W764a

The driver version is 7.12.0.7701, dated 03/29/2011.

Insert the WDM folder into another folder extracted from Mobility video driver. CCC will detect and install AMD HDMI Audio drivers.

The original reference included in the first post, [email protected], is the mobility modded desktop driver set and includes the HDMI driver. FWIW.

No, no. Your point is well taken. Most people will download the AMD mobility reference sets, not the modded desktop set. I point it out mostly as a curiosity and as an alternative source, that's all.

Rev, do you install Catalyst Application Profiles (CAP)? According to its FAQ, it is still applicable for single video card as in our M15x. Despite that, we can argue that it benefits mostly crossfire setup.

I try installing CAPS from time to time, but haven't seen any benefit; in fact, I typically see a performance reduction, presumably because the CAPS tend to favor quality over raw performance. So, I end up uninstalling them. Others report substantial benefits. I guess it depends on what you're running and your own preferences. The CAPS uninstall cleanly, so try 'em and see what effects they deliver in your world. If you don't see a benefit, remove them.

The main reason for the size differential is that the modded desktop set includes both 32 and 64 bit versions of the drivers and some apps, plus the desktop sets include some items not included in the mobility package (DP/HDMI drivers, Avivo, maybe more).

in rift i saw a performance increase, probably because prior to install fps would take a dive for no apparent reason, buggy as can be. (i'm not talking about the latest one though, it was a few patches ago)

don't know, but i'm getting the same message.

That's 6970m style... I've seen this message quite a couple of times since I have the card. But it always works with the direct download, or the modded drivers.
The reason could be vendor ID string of Dell isn't in the AMD updates yet. I know that Clevo is, but only since 11.5 as far as I remember. So if you change the subvendor ID in the vbios to Clevo it should probably work.

I installed these drivers (Official AMD download) with no problem with my 6970m so I don't think it is a subvendor ID problem.

    Hi,

I'm a bit of a newbie with this and I generally tend to only install the driver releases from Dell. Do I have to do anything special with the Official Mobility release of these drivers to get them working on my m15x? Or do I just run the .exe and go through the install with no file modifications?

    Thanks

No modifications needed, it's like installing a Dell driver. When you haven't updated your driver since the last Dell release, you'll notice a nice performance boost!

I maybe missing something, but I can't seem to get the "performance" tab to appear so I can use the ATI Overdrive feature to OC my GPU. I have the Radeon 5850. I know I could use an add on like TRIXX to do it, but having the control right there in the CCC is so convenient. Is it possible to enable it someway?
