Edit (Sept 28): Official Cat 11.9 WHQL drivers (8.892.0) have been released, and the Win7 64-bit mobility versions can be downloaded here: http://www2.ati.com/Drivers/mobile/11-9_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl.exe.

Official AMD Source (Final version): ATI Catalyst? Mobility Display Driver.

Unofficial Catalyst 11.9 RCx mobility-mod drivers (8.890.0) are available for review here: [email protected]. Very little information is yet available, but they appear to be release candidates submitted for WHQL approval. Installed smoothly and working well so far in my R3 (6990M) with limited use. Will install in the M15x and test with the 6970M later today.

    Have at it, DICE Wizard.

Edit: Based on initial use, the 11.9's are reasonably impressive with the 6990M at stock clocks. Although 3dMark06 was down almost -100 to 20,515, 3dMark11 was up +25 to P3947 and 3dMark Vantage increased +150 to P14,560 (GPU - 13188). So it's mostly good on balance with the 6990M. With the 6970M at stock clocks in the M15x, 3dMark06 backed up again, dropping nearly -250 to 16,917, but 3dMark11 benched about the same (P3507), and 3dMarkVantage gained +140 to P12,393 (GPU - 11,808). Don't know what's going on with 3dMark06, but it's been largely downhill since the Cat 11.5's (17,162).

Hey, I noticed that you have a "performance" tab in ccc. The overdrive ability is located in there... I don't have that tab and was curious to know why. Running 11.8 with 6990m.

To unlock Overdrive for your 6990M using ATI reference drivers, open Regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI\ACE\Settings\Graphics\OverDrive2. Change the value of the key “Accessible” in the right panel from "Nobody" to "All" (right click on Accessible, select Modify and enter “All” in the Value Data box). Then drop down to Overdrive3 and Overdrive5 in the Graphics section and make the same change. Restart and the Performance tab should appear in CCC.

The problem is that the default o/c limits in Overdrive are 740/1000. Edit the 6990M vbios using RBE to increase the limits by moving the sliders on the last screen to your desired levels. I use 900/1200, which has served me well.

AMD are probably optimising for DX10 and 11 now and thus DX9 is suffering. Man I want a better CPU for my R3!

Revelator, thanks alot you always help me out. I'm using sapphire trixx to oc my card currently- you mentioned that there are limits placed on my card through the vbios, and I see that using RBE. So when I oc with sapphire trixx is it overriding that upper oc limit? Gpu-z shows that I've increased my clocks beyond 740/1000.

I also installed 11.9 drivers. In gpu-z my voltage readings are at 0.000...I'm assuming that's just a bug with these drivers yes?

Yes, the vbios o/c limits apply only to the range available in Overdrive. It will not restrict the o/c'ing settings available through TriXX.

I get the same effect in GPU-Z regarding VDDC readings. I agree with your assumption; it has to be a driver bug of some kind since GPU-Z has always reported the voltage setting(s) with all prior drivers.

Thanks, hahaha, missed the official release... lol. Well, I'm using FirePro drivers at the moment, so it doesn't matter.
In case you haven't noticed, there's a 11.10 preview available (and mobility mod), check here.

Been using the 11.10 Previews for a couple of days, but wanted to test for a few days before posting a link because my source is a little different this time. Working very well so far.

Ah, ok, somehow assumed didn't miss them, hahaha.
Yeah, Inap reported that they're working fine, didn't test them so far, want to try my FirePro M8900 a bit first of all.

Probably the Cat 11.10 Previews. They are the newest drivers available at the moment, but some people shy away from unofficial drivers. The Cat 11.9 WHQL are the latest official certified drivers. Both work well.
