Hi Guys. Just bought a M15x as a fixer up project, off a friend and was wondering what SSD would be ok and if anyone has had any compatibility problems with any certain brands?
    Thanks Nick.

Any brand will work fine but you'll be limited to SATA-2 speeds so you don't need to get the most blisteringly fast one. Samsung 850 Evo is always highly recommended as is Crucial MX100 but you won't be able to utilise full performance of these drives.

Don't get the BX200 as it uses TLC NAND and has very disappointing write speeds much longer than advertised.

840 evo uses TLC nand and it benchmarks as fast as the 850 evo v-nand in Samsung magician. Maybe its the controller on th BX? or maybe Samsung magician is rigged!

Yes Samsung were the first to make cheap and speedy TLC NAND and do fancy things with it to give satisfactory performance. Other brands have been less successful with budget options using TLC NAND. Could be due to controller or some lane saturation or something that sounds complicated. OCZ Trion is another budget TLC NAND drive with very disappointing write performance.
