Hey guys, been working on a config for Crysis 2. This will bring you past the Extreme preset but will give you extremely consistent frame rates. It's based on one I saw at crymod.com I have just optimised it. The image is extremely smooth with no anti aliasing needed because both EdgeAA and PostMSAA are on and those don't eat frames. On my 460m GTX it runs really good, fixes the stuttering issue :D Rename it autoexec.cfg and put it in your Crysis 2 folder.

Yep, same folder where there is system.cfg. Don't get rid of system.cfg as your installation will be unplayable. Both files work fine together.

If the intro movies have been skipped and you are presented with a login straight away, it is loaded.

Hm, go to the control panel, folder options, view and uncheck "hide extensions for known file types". Then examine the config again and see if it is autoexec.cfg.txt or just autoexec.cfg. We want the latter.
Edit: If still not working, just unzip this straight into the folder.

@ widezu69, thanks for the work.

I have the same GPU, but I have an i7 740... Do you think that I will have constant FPS with your autoexec.cfg?

    Thanks!

still not workin. after unchecking hide extensions it had both cfg and txt so i changed it but still didnt work. also extracted the file to the root and still no success.

idk if this helps but i have a really weird problem where if i create a shortcut 4 the crysis 2 app file in the bin 32 folder and use that shortcut then i get an error message that says game folder game not found. so im forced to start the game from start/programs/games/crysis 2

Are you sure that you have the system.cfg at... ?
    Code:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis 2\system.cfg
It should be something like this inside the file: http://forum.notebookreview.com/gam...one-post-original-system-cfg.html#post7302122

@pepemosca Crysis 2 isn't a CPU bound game so it should work good for you too. I'm playing with it and it just seems so smooth (with the amount of frame I reckon I have) with now stuttering!

    Im curious what sort of FPS people are getting on this game with that modified CFG file;

I installed it this morning with Fraps, but it never seems to climb above 20fps so Im curious if that is sort of the "Expected" level as I would have expected (or hoped..) that it would be a bit faster at 1920x1080

With your config that should be correct. The purpose of this config is to give better visuals will smoother frame rates Not a higher frame rate. The default Extreme preset causes fluctuations and stutters. This remedies that.

May write a new one just for speed optimizations. Also don't jump to conclusions before you try it out. I'm no miracle worker.

Is this config optimized only for Nvidia configs or ATI works as well?

Well apparently hardcore or extreme if you have patch 1.1 maxes out the CryEngine 3 anyways and this config dosen't do much in terms of visuals. For me it is great. Perhaps it doesn't do anything, here is another config with Extreme settings only but the same speed optimizations to compare. If there is no difference, I recommend using this one.

Yes I have seen that too. My Extreme 2 config is a simple script using that application. I just disabled FSAA and used the highest settings for the rest.

To deactivate the motion blur, keep "r_MotionBlur=1″ but enter “r_MotionBlurShutterSpeed=0" in the autoexec file. It will avoid graphics bugs when you are sliding or when your health is critical.

@Kratzen, at 900p, i7-720qm, hd 5850. At stock clocks, Vanilla extreme I average 30-31 fps. (keep in mind my OS is optimized for gameplay).
With overclocking to 800/1000 I get around 36fps average. If I disable FSAA via config I then get 40-41 fps.

If you optimize your OS and OC a bit you should be easily able to play on Extreme.

    StevenX

Yep my advice is to have everything on Extreme but turn off FSAA. You'll have perfectly playable settings. The exact settings are in the second config that I posted.
