I know this may bring up some controversy, but why in gods name did dell use Intel rather than AMD for their processors? I have used Amd basically my whole life. i have over clocked AMD for a while and never used anything other than AMD the only exception was when i oc'd one processor too much and fried the whole damn thing. then i got a p4 but after that it was still AMD.
I think amd Should make a processor that works together with their cards.
like how the Cell processor can emulate ram/vid ram ect ect...

    Just wondering why.

AMD have made similar things with their new APU but they are used in smartphones and tablets. Dell chose Intel because the i7's, when they came out, were light years ahead of their time. Proper hyper-threading and quad core in a laptop as standard. I know this stuff existed before in Xeons etc but it was the better option in terms of customer satisfaction. Intel has huge marketing with adverts on TV and posters and people would want to buy the newest tech. There are fewer and fewer AMD laptops now unfortunately.

Cliffs version, Intel is bigger than AMD and currently faster. What happens when you're top dog, you give terms to manufacturers who use your products. There is no will you please use our processors it's "you WILL use our processors or you won't get them." Sure AMD is a FAR better bang for the buck, ATI cards are in my opinion superior to nVidia. You still have the food chain to deal with and Intel is at the top. No manufacturer could survive off JUST AMD CPUs nor just ATI GPUs.

Microsoft does similar stuff to computer manufacturers too. Don't use Windows on all your machines we take away your licensing. This is the coffin for any PC manufacturer since there are no other truly viable OS alternatives.

I understand that amd has gone downhill, but before they used to be great processors. well either way im happy with the I7 but kinda wished they had an option for a amd cpu like a phenom.
    thanks for the help guys!

i also repasted the gpu and before when the tech came and put new card in, no paste so now i can oc and play good games :D yay for me lol

AMD hasn't gone down hill by a long shot. Their performance while not quite to Intel it's THAT much less when comparing comparable price point CPUs. What AMD made the mistake of doing is falling back on innovation but when you're Intel and have most to all of the large contracts you can afford teams of people to make cool stuff. AMD needs to take chances again like they did racing to 1 Ghz. Only reason AMD won is cause they were smaller and more dynamic. If the boss said 'make CPU X' the line was stopped, CPU X was put into production and that was that. Intel was just too big to keep up and at the time getting anything faster than 750 Mhz was a long waiting process. Since then they corrected that issue combining the 900 lb Gorilla with a turbocharged sports-car to move in.

Nice system, looks a lot like mine. I'm also very happy with it coming from 4 AMD CPUs to my first Intel since 120 Mhz was fast.
