Design me a coloware M15x!!!

Yeah I would've just bought the system from them, thou I'd compare the prices first to make sure I would be saving if I were to buy and send it in

 

Any idea yet what colors you are getting on your M15x?

 

He PMed me and asked my opinion on hot pink, orange, and green. I said go for it.

And I still can't decide between the white/black or the Alien green/black (at least that is what I am calling it because it does look very alien-like).

 

LOL that IS a tough choice. It's like trying to pick between a fiery fake blonde that you know you only have a 50/50 shot of lasting with or picking a smart, stable brunette.

You only live once so I'd know the one I'd pick but its your money and I dont want you to blow it on a overly risky color scheme so GL.

 

It's only a laptop and, to be quite honest, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the options from colorware.

I have a feeling that the work they do is very high-quality and a top-notch paint job should look stunning no matter what the color scheme (within reason, of course).

 

Hey Sleey0 just curious, how come you didn't go for the 920xm for your M15x?
And have you picked a scheme yet?

 

I didn't think it would be a prudent purchase (the 920) as I am not sure I need that kind of processing power.

Would it be nice to have? Of course! lol Just a little too rich for my blood

So its between white/black and green/black. Well based on what people have already posted so far, if you put the green or white in those areas(side, exhaust, lid accent, grills) I would say white. Green grills are a turnoff

 

There are a lot of white notebooks though. Not a lot of green ones like that around.

It would be very unique, that's for sure.

You're suggesting a Dolphins fan get his notebook painted in the Jets colors.

 

The grills were soft touch jet black if your talking about the one I posted. Only the metal chassis was green. I imagine it would look amazing with the lid open and closed. Makes me wish they had a paint option for the M17x, it's pretty lame they don't but I understand being aluminum and all it would be more difficult to paint the M17x.

 

I'd rather set my system on fire and watch it burst into flames than paint it J-E-T-S suck suck suck!! colors

Do you guys think this would increase or decrease the value?

 

i don't think doing this will add to resale value, maybe even decrease since not many people would go for bright colored laptops. but i like it.

 

I found a brand new spare lid that i have coming and i was going to have the spare painted Green ... I wanted to buy the bottom portion of the chassis but someone bought it already from the Rengsey /cough..

Not sure i would paint everything green though but just the lid and bottom portion... I would probably leave the flimsy bottom cover black as well since i would be afraid of the paint cracking when that thing flexes ..

 

wow much was the spare lid quad? thinking of doing a custom lid logo. sorry bought the bottom part already,lol. doing a custom bottom plate, sorry.

Some guy on Ebay had 1 for sale and i think it ran around $70ish shipped from the UK...

Its all good man i am just messin with you ... Its one of those things that would be fun to do but by no means is the end all be all ....

Ill have the lid painted Green for a nice Green and Black look since i want to be able to sell the machine eventually without much issues....

Painting the machine is a great idea if your going to keep it but there is just to many concerns for the average joe about warrantys etc when you customize it ....

If Dell ever had to issue a system replacement you would have to scramble to get all new parts which would end up costing a small fortune in the end and its just not worth that much .... Or you could just send it back green and play stupid

 

In the end I would just like to get a lid that's isn't so shiny. Maybe the silver one is better in this case like it is for the M17x?

 

Why is Rengsey selling the chassis/lid of his laptop?

 

Its more of a painted shiny silver then the matte one on the M17x.... Would still show less fingerprints though ill bet then the black one....

Witcher had both the Silver and the Black one but said he hated the way the Silver looked overall so make of it what you will but said he loved the Black....

 

I know he had two, maybe he combined the best parts and parted out the rest.

Yeah i almost ordered from there but found someone selling it brand new for abit more so i went that direction... If your going to paint it though then if it has a scuff or 2 it wont matter but i wanted to make sure mine had 0 defects since the one i have now had tiny scratches that were making me nutz...

I bought a couple screens in the past from those guys for my XPS GEN2 and 1710 and they are good to deal with....

Yeah yellow would be slick... I was thinking a better Red/Blue or Green but i always wanted a Green lid since i first had my M17x like Mandrake did just never kept them long enough or got around to it ....

 

they only thing with yellow is don't know what to do with the alien head. if green i can do a green lantern logo. or red or blue a super man logo. got a cnc router at my shop,lol. so i can make a logo thing out of plastic and paint it.

 

Lol that was my original intention for having the black and green was the Green Lantern ...

 

I didn't look at everyone else's color scheme nor did I even read the 19+ pages, so I apologize if someone has done this before. My inspiration was of sports cars because thats what they said was what they used to model these laptops with. Good luck! I believe these would look sick with the corresponding alienfx light theme to match.

 

Might make it a little more difficult to sell if you have to find a buyer that's Red-green color blind....

I heavily considered having mine painted since the offer is there to do it but i just know when it comes time to sell it there will be to many questions ....

Have you called Dell to find out how much a spare lid is yet ?... I bought a brand new one from the UK for around $70.00 shipped but it was i believe the last one other wise i would have sent you a link...

I cant imagine the M15x lid and bottom chassis costing as much as the M17x ones considering atleast the lid is made from different material and not anodized etc...

 

No, I just know Dell normally charges a lot.
