So, i did some overclocking on my 5850, flashed the bios to 1.1v and put the card to 750/1100, did some benchmarking temps were good.

I play bf3, accidently put the setting on ultra, laptip freezes, i reboot.
On reboot Monitor black, with the scroll and num lock led's blinking and the capslock on on the keyboard.

I powerdrained, took motherboard battery out, reseated videocard.

Did i just brick my gpu? I still have 9 months of warrenty, but i moved to the other side of the world, do'h.

    Any info/help greatly apriciated!

check the code from this table.

did you also flash the 2d clocks or left them alone?
if you did, might be unstable and thus refusing to boot.
thats quite an ambitious overclock without testing prior. can't stress how important it is to test these things via software tools prior to flashing.

I only touched the 625/1000 clocks. Not the clocks running st 0,9v. (if those are the 2d clocks). The guide you provided me tells me its the gpu that needs replacing, and after that the mainbord. Im quite sure i have bricked the gpu, when i flashed it for a 2nd time it told me "fail", i wanted to lower the vcore to stock again. Ive tested it afterwords and the vcore was normal again, and it was running the benchmsrks good so i thought nothing was wrong.

Another thing might be worth mentioning that, sometimes on boot, without me touching anything it would blow the fans full sometimes, and not boot at all/post, and the screen would stay black. And i had too reboot it again in order for it to start. This was without any modding, flashing or overclocking. So the gpu might have been abit faulty, with me modding it, it got the deathstab.

I have warranty left, but ofcourse, they dont support it internationally. Ive just recently migrated to australia.
So, i need a new 5850m, is it worth upgrading to 6970m now that im going that direction anyway? Will the backplate of the 5850m fit the 6970?

Sorry for the bad grammar, but im typing this on my backup tablet.

    Thanks.

ouch bummer. yeah sounds like your gpu hit the dirt if the bios post is sending you that message.

yeah it's worth the upgrade. it's about as fast as 5850's in crossfire.
just have to be more careful about the temps though. keep it free from dust, i clean my fans about once a month. oh and yes, you keep the backplate of the 5850 for your new card. the default 6970/90 one i got did not fit right. i'm still using the same xplate that i had from my 260m.

oh and welcome to the land down under. i assume you've already experienced the four seasons in a single day :p

Yeah, 4 seasons 1 day exactlly haha. So, is ebay a good place to get it with laptopupgrades? Does the 5850 cooling bracket fits the 6970 one?

Unless my M15x's keyboard is configured differently, the LED light code is indicating an LCD problem, requiring initially checking or reseating the LCD cable. Seems more logical. Clocks of 750/1100/1.1v should pose no threat to a 5850M, but a bad flash is always dangerous, partly because you don't know what "fail" might mean in that context. It could just mean the flashing effort failed, leaving the vbios unchanged and the card unaffected. Check the LCD connections.

afaik they're the same as the m17x and rev is right.
if its the error he said above, i've had that before when replacing the magnesium casing. fixed it by reseating the lcd cable (thick insulated wire under the keyboard)

it's the one below that's scary.
