    Hi,

    I noticed on here:
Dell alienware Parts | Dell Laptop Parts | Replacement alienware Laptop Parts | Dell alienware Parts List
that they have separate sections for the Alienware M15x and the Area-51 m15x (R1). I thought that since they were the same laptop (albeit different ages/models) the parts may have been interchangeable between the two, but I'm guessing now that that's not an option.

In particular, does anyone know if the chassis parts are interchangeable? I'm trying to find a new back lid for the m15x-R1 and it's much easier to find the most recent M15x parts; are the dimensions identical or will I specifically have to find the R1 parts?

Also, was the R1 the one that had the issue with the hinges breaking?

    Thanks in advance. :)

well the newer Dell M15x hasi the intel i-series processor and more powerful graphic card support (5850, 460/560m, 6970 etc) whereas the original area 51 m15x has core2duo & nvidia 9 series gpu. Just some basics that i know

Thanks for the reply. :) I think the 8800M GTX will be sufficient for me though, and the processor ain't bad either. My main concern isn't the specs but whether this was the model that had all the issues - the hinges that kept breaking in particular. Although a lot of people offer a fix for this now, I guess.
