    Anyway, does anyone know what I need to do to make the cable transmist audio as well as video?

    Do you have an ATi card?


    Right click the speaker icon-->playback devices-->HDMI output (or DP output) and right click it-->default device

    restart whichever media player you were using.

    and it should output via HDMI/DP, now.

    It the output isn't present, then update your GPU drivers.

    I assume you're referring to window in the image I attached.
    As you can see, it's saying that an HDMI device isn't attached, despite the fact that the cable is plugged in and I've got the TV set up as a second display.

    Or maybe I'm going about this all wrong.

    I went into device manager, disabled and then re-enabled the device, and now it's working. Thanks.
