Would there be electrical problems running an overclocked 940XM on the 6-cell battery?

I have asked this before myself. The answer is no, you don't have to have the 9 volt to run it. Just understand that you will have very little battery time like 20 minutes or less on the 920/940xm.

Feel free to search the forum but I promise, I and others have asked the question and you can definitely run the XM processors without the 9 volt.

Nope you don't need a 9-cell. I ran my 920xm with a 6-cell for a couple of months before getting a 9-cell. The only difference is lower battery life. But one other advantage is better cooling with a 9-cell because it tilts the laptop a bit.

Good to hear! What settings do you run your 920XM at for normal usage/gaming? Temps?

I always set it on high performance. Temps are always around 55-60 during normal usage. On battery, you can only do very light gaming. Power hungry games such as GTA IV, NFS, COD Black Ops etc will get really bad FPS. Plus your battery wouldn't last long either. I can easily watch a 1 1/2 hour movie on battery though but thats pretty much it.
